How the fuck can you get a 4.6 on a 4.0 scale? I took AP English my Senior year, which counts as college credit and also counts as a 5.0 if you make an A+ in it (97 or better). Our Valedictorian only graduated with a 4.125, because although he had taken 4 AP courses and gotten the 5.0, the other 28 courses only counted for a maximum of 4.0, thus bringing down his GPA closer to 4.0 in any situation. Let's do some math:
4 classes per semester
2 semesters per year
32 classes total
4.0 x 28 = 112
5.0 x 4 = 20
total # = 132
132 / 32 = 4.125
Because you're only a sophomore (I think) and thus probably can't qualify for AP credit because you haven't met the prerequisites yet (earliest typical year for AP is junior year), I'm calling bullshit on you. You would have to be the Jesus of academia and already have went through 4 AP classes through your first 2 years to get a 4.6. Even then, AP courses are tough, not to mention the 4 hour AP exams. I graduated with a 4.0 in high school and have a 3.78 in college right now, and I know how ludicrously impossible it would be for a 15 year old to make a 97 or better (Even a 90 or better if that's all it takes in your state, because that's hard enough) to get the 5.0 in an AP course. My English course we were reading about 80 pages per night. Seems like a small amount now compared to the 100 per class per night now, but for a teenager that's a fuckload of reading.

like I said... maybe a few hundred dollars/semester... unless you are valedictorian then you may get some more... or if you're a minority or course.
|
I really don't think that's accurate. I have a friend who got almost a full ride of out of state tuition to Wake Forest for good grades.

eek: I HIGHLY doubt it would be for grades alone. There *is* alot of financial aid available especially for out of state tuition people, but I've never heard of getting full rides for good grades. Hell, 90% of people at my school graduated highschool with over 4.0's, alot of them valedictorians at that, and, disregarding aid for out of state people to make tuition atleast reasonable, I've never known anything even remotely close to a full ride. Its not hard to do well in highschool is the point, anybody can get good grades, community service, leadership programs, special academic programs, sports, scholarship essay/etc contests, being a minority... those are the areas where the money is at. I'm no expert, but good grades alone wont get you anything other than an acceptance letter and standard/automatic scholarships of a few hundred bucks in my experience.

Yeah, IB was such a bitch, what I thought was funny is that out of all the students they only had a couple diplomas to hand out... it was like entering the fucking lotto, and for all that work. Plus, some of the geekiest fucks I've ever met were in it.
Hey and jub jub, your in wyoming right? We could have the greatest sex ever if you travelled a couple miles down to denver.
