Just got off the phone with EA, don't count on it being released or they don't know what is going on.
If you can grab it grab it but it looks like this is just a preload. or a EA mistake.

Meh turned out to be a preload, even though the wording of the email heavily suggested otherwise.

For anyone interested this is now on the "scene". I guess the rumours of some people unlocking the preload somehow were true.

I was in the store today and i saw it there so i picked it up and bought it. Just installed it and was messing around a bit in it. Seems to me they have optimized it a bit since the demo. On the demo I was running everything on High settings with no AA. In this I can run everything on very high dx 10 with no aa and it's playable. no stuttering at all. looks great. I turned up the aa to 2x and it stuttered a bit. it's probably still playable, but not worth it at all. nice to be able to set everything to very high though! although I was just running around the first level. No big firefights or anything.

Wait until after the demo level part, plenty of oversized firefights. You'll find yourself coming up with tactics to distract and break contact to avoid them after a while. Just as fun as picking them off or mowing them down in my book.
So far my favorite in wooded areas is to open fire with the long rifle at range, plink a few. As they rush forward to your now known position cloak and move to the extreme sides, left or right. Cloak and move around the unit, playing hop scotch with your cloak power. Now you have two options, pick them apart from behind with a silenced weapon and cloak, or just continue on now well past them.
Only thing i REALLLY hate so far is the choppers that seem to know where you are no matter what. Hiding in that bush where no troops see you? Oh yeah it sees you. Tricked it by hiding behind a tree then running out cloaked, dont kill anyone it will instantly reaquire you even if you've run 3 miles away.

As the levels progress you'll notice more and more frame rate dips, im running everything on high with no fsaa @ 1920x1200, some firefights im dipping to almost single digits, think the lowest ive seen so far was like 13fps. Can't say im happy with the perfomance, ive also been reading that people with sli and crossfire are getting corrupted menu;s and worse performance than a single card. Despite the fact crytek repeatedly stated the game would make use of multi core and multi card setups. It doesn't even make use of a quad core effectively at all.
Im enjoying the game so far, the one thing thats pissing me off is sometimes you pump almost 40 rounds into someone using a silenced rifle and it seems to do jack shit in terms of damage. Noticed it seems to happen when theres a good bit of distance betwen you, i stuck the sniper scope on the fy71 and seen every round hit this guy and he was still runnig around unphased, just a regular korean soldier.

Some cfg tweaks out now to make the game look better:
Oh and anyone that got the special edition, watch the making of crysis vid around 6 mins before the end, i swear that Cervat guys on crack. They got a studio to make a rendered movie and they were gonna atempt to match it in real time with the game, according to them crysis now looks superior to the rendered movie. The rendered movie is also on the bonus disc named "crysis_core-x". If they honestly think crysis looks better than that then they need to pass some of what theyre smoking this way.

Just beat the game and all i can say is... Meh. It looks pretty, but isnt all that entertaining to play. Once you figure out how dumb the Ai can be they are easy to defeat, and the aliens are just annoying. Last portion of the game was truly the most unsatisfying. Spoilers:
Once in the ship in 0g the game became very boring and was a chore to play just flying around tunnel after tunnel. Then attempting to kill off the few speedy aliens that popped up seemed an effort in futility. Until you realised they like to charge and you can grab them for an instant kill. Once outside you run and gun to avoid pursuing flying and things and proceed to do that until your safly back on the ship. Oh sure, you can do all those secondary objectives in the vtol, which is a pile of shit, not a fighter, thussly you end up repeating parts 205884 times. Once back on the ship you run through the maze to do useless objectives until the ship is hit with a large alien on deck. You grab a nuke launchers and hit the deck to kill the thing, but you cant USE the nuke on it. So you hit it with 53983 rockets and it dies. Then an even bigger alien pops up and sits there while you easily blow it up in stages. First those turrets, then the wing parts, for some reason, then the hanger bay door. End game.
Now the last part with the boss battle was horribly bugged for me and i ended up NOT having to do the sequence of events to kill it. It just said i did it after a reload from dying, and it was over, leaving me to say WTF is wrong with the fucking game. Not to mention that once on the final level the game hard locked my computer 6 times, at differant locations, and at seemingly random times. Working on killing something, lag, lag, lock, in the course of two seconds. Absolutly infuriating, at points i just gave up from not enjoying the game and didnt play for a day or so. Then forced myself through. Honestly, the story isnt that good, the gameplay can get boring, and the aliens ruin the game. Cloaked? Oh they still see you.
Overall, if you've got a high spec machine and can truly utilise this games graphics, sure go ahead and get it. It is a new standard in level design, and art. However, if you dont have a rig that can go to medium, with a few highs on the important stuff, its not really worth it just for the gameplay.

I finished on Saturday and pretty much feel the same way you did Misc. By the end of the thing I was indifferent. Story wasn't all that great. I didn't really care about what was going on.
Aliens are tedious. Game looks amazing. Story line is what matters to me the most. COD4 did a great job with their story. Crysis is kind of a novelty.
