Thats Peter Maher, the greatest broadcaster to EVER LIVE. If you've ever listened to other radio stations through NHL.com some of them are just brual. Most of them don't know what their talking about. There are 10 second pauses in most of them while they try to figure out what is going on. Peter Maher calls the game so well. Listening to him on the radio is almost better than actually watching the game and having to listen to CBC. Sometimes, I mure the TV and turn on the radio. Thats how good Peter Maher is.
I had the pleasure of talking to him at the game last night. We were both in the bathroom before the game. I told him what a great broadcaster he is. He asked me if I was at the last game, and I said yes. We talked for a minute or so and I wished him luck. He's a great man. Very friendly and professional and loves the flames. but he's not biased in his broadcasts. He'll yell if the other team scores. its just he yells more when Calgary scores. He's been covering the Flames for 20 years.
The "Yeah baby" is part of the history of the Flames that goes back to the 80's. Peter Maher said Yeah baby last time the flames went to the playoffs. The only time he EVER says it is when we clinch, or win a series. he haden't said it for 8 years.
Peter Maher = God rock:
