I'm using Win2k Advanced Server (same as Pro just beefed up with server apps) and it runs everything, including high graphics, just fine! biggrin:

I too have a Geforce Ti 4600.

I don't have any performance problems in Unreal 3, Nolf 2, SOF2, etc.

And re jumping down from spawn points - what about the airport map, you know, where you have to control hangers and runway lights - IS there a way to get down off the metal ramp in the warehouse on the Axis start?

If you jump onto the back of the trucks you don't loose health.

I just got Spearhead last night, and I'm really disappointed with its playability. I run a modest system, but starting out by saying "your system sucks" would be the easy way out. The way I figure it, I can run MOH:AA at about 70-80% graphics quality (rough estimation based on the video options I set.) Now, with SH, I can't even make the game playable with everything set TO THE LOWEST LEVELS! We're talking 640x480! We're talking 16-bit color! We're talking lowest, lowest, lowest on every stinking setting, and still I'm only getting < 5 fps. It seems the only way it will run halfway smoothly is to run it in a window, and not full screen.

Is this supposed to be an improvement? Good grief! I'm probably going to reinstall everything on my system, and hopefully that works. Otherwise, I just wasted $30.

What kind of system spec's do you have? cool:

Bleed_4_Me 11-26-2002 12:47 PM

Mine runs great and here are my system specs:

AMD XP 1900+ 1.6@1.6, 1.744V
512MB DDR PC2100
GeForce3 64MB DDR o/c 250/500 with WHQL Drivers 40.72
SB Audigy Gamer
2 x ATA100 60GB 7200 RPM WD Caviar
Win2K Advanced Server with SP 3

My FPS is constantly between 70-99! oOo:

Sorry guys but each iteration of software will not run like the previous version, time moves on and things change (cant run MOhaa on my Commodore 64 either!). Granted there are some bugs in this game but it runs pretty good for the most part for most users.
If you have problems with the game there are tools available to help diagnose. Add lagometer to your game thru the console and turn on your fps meter so you can see whats happening (is it your connection, the server, your ISP or your system).
Then do some basic Windows diagnosis using Task Manger, Event Viewer, Windows Update site and the like. Dump your temp files, defrag your hard drive, check page file size (2x Ram), check for updated drivers for your BIOS, video and sound cards. Make sure you have enough Ram and free sspace on your hard drive (I always like to have 1 Gb free space on my system partition).Oh yea, make sure you have up to date hardware that is supported by the game!
Did I leave anything out guys??????

GhostRider2AD 11-26-2002 01:46 PM

Nope, that about covers it. biggrin:

The nVidia 40.72 drivers helped my system run Spearhead much more smoothly than did the previous version. I dont think it will help anyone who is only getting 5 FPS though. oOo:

But it seems that in an expansion they should fix what was wrong with the previous iteration, and not just create an entire slew of new problems. I would agree with this more (the idea of needing a higher end system) if this was MOH 2. But this is an expansion only.

Ya'll sure do talk pretty for a "Surfer Boy"!

eek: eek: eek: eek: eek: eek: eek:

Yea I hear ya, but remember when Mohaa first came out it only had to support DirectX 8. Now we're looking at DirectX 9 coming out and they need to be ready for those kind of changes. DirectX has more affect on your games than people realize, video and sound are both affected resulting in serious consequences for CPU cycles and framrates if there are problems.

Keep in mind too that we only see this problem from the gamer side, they have a Business model and shareholders to answer to (they will give us the flash of new maps and levels to pump out the sales and they will attempt to fix problems later!!!).

Oh well, GAME ON !!!

Surf!?!?! Not on your life (remember I grew up in Minnesota).
I just go watch the scenery.

Bleed_4_Me 11-26-2002 05:35 PM

Yeah that's kinda funny. A Minnesota boy moves to SD CA and an SD CA boy moves to Knoxville TN. Kinda whacky isn't it? oOo: oOo: oOo:
