We (and BS) have nothing to lose except our post count, and that's not important at all. beer: plus, if its fucked, everyone can always join http://www.victorcharlie.net cool:[/quote:11db7] Speak for yourself. My post count is the only reason i live. Oh, and the game itself is 90% dead. Focusing the site more on this POS wouldnt help a whole lot. |

I dont think people spam and hack this site because they were banned, they do it because they want to, its as simple as that. The best way would be to delete everything and start over, but is that the sole plan for future attacks. Face it, this site is a magnet for hackers for whatever reason, banning, bored, the lame. Its just a matter of time before it is done again, and then BS would have to delete/restart everything again. I like the idea of deleting all the mods and anyone who has access to make changes. That should be the first thing on the to do list. After BS sorts out all the accounts that have editing power, he can restart them and reinstate zoner and any mod he chooses to remain active and give them new passwords. (I think he should also change passwords on his whim and just email them to their respective mods.) I dont know if BS has any other suggestions, but all the ideas coming out onto this thread look like great ideas and I think BS has plenty of options.

it WAS because they were banned...and deleting everything will just be like giving up, fuck that,

I as well am in support of dropping the a-bomb on this site and starting over anew with all new mods, topics etc....
Maybe make up some new rules etc...such as making a topic relevant...while most all of us have added something dumb to a thread (omg!!!11 butsecks)..that adds to the hilarity of it all... but Creating a thread that states Thread: Sexiness Hey I know static and madmar are teh leet super pimps...how can I be cool like an armidillo and be sexy and have teh womens want pewppy sechs wif me show me the ways of iot all ^^^^ = Thread deletion....keeping dumbshit like that with absolutely no substance is dumb....sorry duke of your 1500 posts...1498 of them were teh sux |
I dont care for post counts but i dont think deleting everything would be a good idea. Thats like giving in to terroris. Dont be Spain people/1! Dont be Spain!! biggrin: All new moderators is a good idea though.,

Guys,
The deletion of posts and of accounts has two purposes. By deleting both you not only make this site clean and easy to alter, but you also have a empty user base, making it easy to determine how many user you have and getting rid of unneeded smurfs and inactive accounts. Here is why you shouldn't do one and not the other: With all accounts deleted, but some posts remaining you would have posts by guests, I can type up the same thing as before under a new account just as well...so why leave any posts? With all posts deleted, but some accounts remaining you would show that some people are more important than others, it would be unfair to everyone. Do we have anyone who could not register again? I go through the old posts all the time, and it's great to reminise, but its an online forum, not the familly photo album. A clean and empty site would be easier to upgrade, and offer a new page in history if you will for all users. I dont think that deleting it all and begining anew is giving up, I see it as quite the opposite. I see it as a chance to move forward and move in new directions. |
Missed an issue.....
The banlist is debatable, no doubt, and there are different ways to look at the same problem. I think it was Bane that had the idea of creating a html block until post count reached a certain number, and it's a great idea. But it doesn't solve the issue, it only offers one more obsticle for potential attakers. The banning is ineffective, Im sure we can all see that. It only stops an attacker until he gets anouther proxy. Now if there is a method that stops all proxies, then you have a good defence system. Outside of that, it seems to me the best chance to stop attackers would be to eliminate the need for attacking. And your right Static, I may be too nice. I have been accused of that before, nothing new, lol. |
I completely agree with zen here.
