than that of another individual's because of my success and productivity ?
You need an objective system that treats every entity the same regardless
of social standing or ability. Of course, safety nets could be put in place in
one form or another. Failing that, short-term incarceration suffices.

this is a hard issue to side with, on one hand i can see the point of having fines proportional with your income for fairness...because like previously stated a 250 dollar fine kills normal guys but to someone making over 500,000 a year its really no sweat. but that being said, the whole idea of charging someone more based on their income goes against the whole princible of equality before the law which is a cornerstone of english law and therefore in my opinion is a bad idea...before the government everyone should be viewed equal rich or poor.
