[quote="Tool-back":52a9c]The truth is there are videos of Iraqis rejoicing in the streets as the American troops walk by. Seeing the videos let's you know that the news copmanys are not makin everything up. Like I said, not all of them feel that way, but it definitly makes it worth it to see the ones that are happy and thankful.[/quote:52a9c]
The Truth is also that lots of Coalition Soldiers are still being killed by Iraqi's. and besides, I'm sure CNN has the ability to take videos of celebrations and stuff out of context. Hell, i hope you're right, and we did go over there for the right reasons. But I don't think we did. |
Yea I know they're still getting killed over there and it's terrible, but like they say freedom doesn't come free. From what I've heard, there really are some thankful Iraqis out there who are A LOT better off than before.

I don't have any problem whatsoever with freeing an opressed people. I think its great that saddam is gone. he was a tyrant and was ruthless to his people. The only problem I have with the war was that Bush lied to he world body about WMD. That was the whole reason for going to Iraq according to him. You could tell his other motives as we got closer to war he would add "regime change" to his speaches.
The point is if Bush had come out and said "SAddam is a bad guy and we want to prevent him from killing his own people, attacking another country and aquiring WMD" I know the UN would not have backed him, but he wouldn't have lied and I might have supported his decision. I think the US population is confused. I don't like it when I hear that the war in Iraq was part of the war on terrorism. This upsets me. Saying this is using those who died on 9/11 as an excue to attack Iraq. Bush made no such connection and i'm glad he didn't. Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 or al quedia. All in all Bush told me that there was WMD in Iraq and that is why he must go there. There has not been any found, and I feel lied to. Now i'm glad Canada didn't commit troops, even though at the time I thought we should be there. And on that basis I don't feel the war is justified. Do I think the population is better off? Now maybe not so much but when they get everything under control and after a few years I think things will be much better. And yeah Madmartagen, I think that was the video. |
Canadians no more about bush then americans.
Good Ownage 99 |
I'm dissapointed we haven't found WMDs yet either, but I don't feel lied to. There is still a possibility that there are some. Iraq is a big country, and it's not like we were going to find some the second we got in there. As soon as we have total control and these guerilla attacks stop our chances of finding something such as WMDs will increase.
That's just me, I can totally see how you feel lied to and don't believe there are any WMDs, but I just don't see it that way. |

youre right on that. GW stepped in the biggest turd by using that WMD thing as an excuse. i supported the decision for a regime change, but still the international community would not have supported that move either. basically he had a choice between two reasons, he just picked the wrong one. he promised one thing, and when that fell on its ass, it ends up being a lie. i wouldnt say the US population is confused, just half. about 50% of Americans arent supporting things overseas. and about you feeling lied to, americans tend to get used to that from politicians, so you arent the only one. |
I know there could be WMD found, but since Bush said that was the reason for going to war, I would have expecetd that they kenw where some were, or they could find evidence of some somewhere. You would think that Intelligence and talking to the people and scientists etc. they would beable to find something.
Don't worry, in Canada politicians lie to us too. But going to war is a big deal. I don't really get used to being lied to, but some things I can take. When it comes to peoples lives, and I don't care who they are, Canadian, American, British, Martian, I think everyone deserves the truth. The soldiers dying deserve to know what they are dying for. |
i saw on the news the other night. i believe it was on 60 minutes. they have uncovered like 120 mass graves. skulls with cloth blindfolds still tied around there eyes. men women and children. theres a world group doing dna testing to identify the bodies. relitives looking for there loved ones have given blood to be matched to the bodies of the dead. they showed all the bodies in a big ditch piled on top of eachother. one place had been moved in an effort to hide the grave site.
so you jackasses sitting high and tight in front of your computers while you waitting on your mommy to fix your dinner and tuck you in at nite may want to give that some thought before you say we dont belong there. easy for you to say. but when one or more of your family members are taken out of your home by force never to be seen again then you can talk. till then STFU and keep your lame ass opinions to yourself. that monster had to go for the sake of humanity. i say well done george for having the balls to finally call that assholes bluff and give him the smakdown he so richly deserved. it also sends a very strong message to the rest of those self proclaimed dictators around world. the same thing could happen to you anytime day or night. for you guys who said im glad canada didnt go because of the possible attack on your country. i bet you offer up your lunch money to the bully as well. it may not be right. but its easy and safe. let someone else deal with him while i stand on the sidelines and watch. your just lucky the rest of the world dont share your opinion or we would all be hiding in the basement. but dont worry. the rest of the world will take up the fight. you just sit there and complain about how its being done. its what you do best anyay. |

[/quote:81373] Well this is a message board isn't it? Why is your opinion more valuable than mine? Why should I keep my "lame ass" opinion to myself? And what makes my opinion "lame ass"? [quote:81373] that monster had to go for the sake of humanity. i say well done george for having the balls to finally call that assholes bluff and give him the smakdown he so richly deserved. it also sends a very strong message to the rest of those self proclaimed dictators around world. the same thing could happen to you anytime day or night. [/quote:81373] Again, I go back to the point of using the excuse of WMD for invading Iraq. Bush didn't go to Iraq to find WMD, he went there to overthrow Saddam. I believe he should have outright said what his motives were, not tiptoe around the subject. [quote:81373] for you guys who said im glad canada didnt go because of the possible attack on your country. [/quote:81373] Maybe you should read my post again. I said I'm glad Canada didn't go because it would have been for the wrong reasons. Bush went to the UN and passed resolution 1441. He then told us that Iraq had WMD and was a threat to world peace. If he had proven that, I and the entire world would have had no problem with forceably disarming Iraq. But Bush couldn't prove this and therefore lead an unjust war. [quote:81373]i bet you offer up your lunch money to the bully as well. it may not be right. but its easy and safe. let someone else deal with him while i stand on the sidelines and watch. your just lucky the rest of the world dont share your opinion or we would all be hiding in the basement. but dont worry. [/quote:81373] Well, the rest of the world does seem to share the opinion of the Iraq war being unjustified. You couldn't pass a resolution, Germany France and Russia were dead set against it along with many other nations. I don't know how we could all be wrong. Why is there protests of hundreds of thousands when Bush goes to Britain? Why were there millions of protesters around the world leading up to the war? Were thery all diluted? It's quite simple. Justify the war and you'd have the worlds support. You didn't do that, you don't get support. [quote:81373]the rest of the world will take up the fight. you just sit there and complain about how its being done. its what you do best anyay[/quote:81373] I really wish you haden't of said that. I think the majority of people know its not true. How did Canada get to be the most asked country for peacekeepers? How did Canada have more deployed peacekeepers over the past 10 years than any other country combined if we don't do anything. Were concerned with keeping the peace, not making war. However, when it is justified, such as the War on Terrorism, Canada steps up. Were we sitting back when National Guard fighters dropped a 500lb bomb on 3 bn PPCLI in Afghanistan? Were we sitting back when our F-18's were dropping bombs on the NATO sanctioned Kosovo conflict? Were we sitting out when the Gulf war started? Have we not been in Bosnia for 14 rotations? Have our seamen not protected American ships in the gulf since Operation Apollo? I serve my country this very day. When justifications are made for actions which involve my life, I will do my duty, but a second before. This is why i'm glad my government stood up and said, war is not justified. |
The war was justified just by the fact that Iraq had broken 12 something UN resolutions since 92'. This is also a clue that they had and do have some things they shouldn't. There should be nothing else to explain to justify the war, in my opinion.
|
But Bush didn't say that was the reason for the war. he said WMD. I suppose i'm making a big point of this, but to me he shouldn't have used that excuse.
And North Korea expelled UN workers. Everyone knows their after nukes. Iran did as well, but aparrently their coming around. Should we go to war with these countries? |
...guys, pls pm this kind of thing in future...K?thx.

Hey ace, howabout a beer?

ninty9, eventually...if we can't solve it any other way.
We tried to solve Iraq another way for 12 years, war was the only way. |
You know, for supposedly civilized people, we're all pretty fucking dumb:
our politicians (aka the puppet masters) can't even come to a compromise on anything and have to resort to WAR so one can get something out of the other. We're not intelligent sentient beings: we're trained animals. It's no wonder we behave the way we do... Sometimes, I wonder how we got this far. How long can we keep living this way ? We aren't getting any wiser and our technology (aka better weapons) is getting increasingly deadly and dangerous for the whole of humankind. The analogy of handing over a gun to the child is becoming clearer by the decade. Unless we see a drastic difference in wisdom and marked change in relationships between elected representatives, I fear we may not have a very long time on this beautiful planet. Bend over and get ready to receive what's coming to you... |
the reason why we have all these problems is because of how sick and retarded religion is. no 'organized' religion = no problem.
|
Religion is what makes this world live.
If there wasnt religion, there would be no reason living, true or not, religions give people hope, a reason to live |

Your purpose is what you decide and actualize. I've understood this a long time ago and I believe it makes my life better than if I expected an afterlife: this way, I don't hold back and I'm not HELD back. |
No religion = total chaos
Not every organized religion is about suicide bombings, mad. |
Im not talking about suicide bombings or Islam, I'm talking about all religions in genearal (except maybe Budhism). They are all twisted to the point of perversion, making avid believers stupid. Instead of preaching intolerance, they often leave followers with misconceptions of superiority and righteousness. They also turn out to be hypocrits, homophobics, sexist, and illogical.
