I realy really like this
Coning from England i see far too little sun anyway but the after pic has the look of the sun around my part of the world. (ie Europe) I really cant see how its a cheat.
the sun does very little to alter if you get killed it just there to add to the ambience Which this mod does nicely. As for you newt why you name yourself after a small piece of pond life that is slimy and generally revolting oh hold on I get it lol By the way b4 u ask im called scorpion cos i let nades off as i die so anyone who takes my health etc gets dead aka a sting in the tail hence being called scorpion. Thank you for your time |
Think of it this way.
Souther france, the right corner of that catwalk with the sun glare. Look at it normally and you wouldn't see if someone was standing there because of so much glare. Look at th same spot with reduced glare and you can see them. |
That should definitely be a server side mod. Could give someone an unfair advantage.
One place I'm thinking of would be in Southern France when you look at that raised walkway leading into one of the houses. Less glare there would definitely be an advantage. |
sun and sky
how do u make the sun and sky cos i aint got a bloody clue!!

I live in England and the sun is no less bright at mid-day during summer here than it is when I've visited countries around the equator.
You cannot look at the sun anywhere if it is not behind cloud or if you're not wearing eye protection (or it's not low in the sky) so no, this mod is not realistic and newt was right about that part. It looks nicer, sure. It would also give advantage to players in particular situations (V2, SF particularly, less so Remagen because it's not a verticle map). Is this cheating? No less or more than a no-flare mod is. It's not a really hard cheat but I'm sure a lot of ladders would disagree. I do respect the fact that the eye-candy mod is not supposed to present realism nor is it supposed to be used in clan matches, so I honestly don't see anything wrong with it. Nice effect. But not realistic, no matter how you try to compare. I would not be against using though, certainly if I knew everyone else on the server had it (ie it was an "eyecandy" server). |
lol
It will be considered a cheat by some some. Might as well make one so that the fog isnt so thick on the maps as well.

In response to all info given in this thread...
I will make the availabilty of the sunflare mod in the next release of EyeCandy, beyond that...
even though i shouldn't have to worry about the few that think this is a cheat. |
Two things:
- You can not look directly into the sun, and be able to see someone standing in that same direction clearly enough to have a good aim. Unless you squeeze your eyes. - Squeezing your eyes doesn't give you a better view while looking at the monitor (the projected image remains the same). So, this mod could give you an advantage in certain situations. For this reason, it should be a server side mod. Personally, I couldn't care less if someone was using it. The advantage is minimal at best. |
...
...that is why i'll only make it available in EyeCandy. No way it can be server side only, in a normal AA server.
|
OK
Yes, I understand. Also why it can not be serverside. I was talking 'if'.
When will you release EyeCandy? I'm not really into mod's (I like everything original), but it might be nice to check it out. Offtopic: Why are you writing in orange? |
OK:
1. I make a server side mod all you would need to do is put it into your main and join a server, any server 2. EyeCandy 2.0 in a few weeks, 1.2 available now, need to register in order to download: [url:e5d72]http://dirtyrottentouchholes.com/phpBB2/index.php[/url:e5d72] 3.Because no one else does, lol Final note I like to play two ways: 1 Realism, FF/ON nohud no x-hair 2 I wanted a fully modded conversion you can play, wait... and wait... for the other conversions or play EyeCandy!
