Wow. A lot of people here don't have a fucking clue about any of this... hake:

[quote="Tool-back":11a94]Iraq didn't hate us. Saddam and his regime did. Seen the videos and pictures of the Iraqis dancing around the American troops? Not saying all Iraqis welcomed us, but the majority are thankful.[/quote:11a94]
According to CNN, at least. And I'll bet you that Al-Jazeera says that the Iraqi people have just traded an Iraqi dictator for an American one. If you can serperate the truth from the bullshit in this Propaganda-fest, then you're either a genius or full of shit. rolleyes: |
The truth is there are videos of Iraqis rejoicing in the streets as the American troops walk by. Seeing the videos let's you know that the news copmanys are not makin everything up. Like I said, not all of them feel that way, but it definitly makes it worth it to see the ones that are happy and thankful.

What about the vidoes the media showed after 9/11? It showed people rejoicing, but infact it was for a parade or something three years earlier being passed off as people dancing for the attacks. Truth is you have no idea what the media shows and doesn't show. What their allowed to show and what is true.

fill us in on your opinion then. eek: |
Why bother, I'll be flamed and called an idiot by all the brain-less bush lovers. Besides, most of you won't know what I'm talking about since you get all your info on the subject from the 5-o-clock news and don't bother to do any of your own research.
Having a mature discussion of politics on AA.Com is like trying to snipe with a shot gun, it ain't happening. |

Ninty9 videos aren't the only place I'm getting information. Troops there is a pretty good source. When they say that people are happy they're there and seeing them makes it worth it, I believe them.

The Truth is also that lots of Coalition Soldiers are still being killed by Iraqi's. and besides, I'm sure CNN has the ability to take videos of celebrations and stuff out of context. Hell, i hope you're right, and we did go over there for the right reasons. But I don't think we did. |
Yea I know they're still getting killed over there and it's terrible, but like they say freedom doesn't come free. From what I've heard, there really are some thankful Iraqis out there who are A LOT better off than before.

I don't have any problem whatsoever with freeing an opressed people. I think its great that saddam is gone. he was a tyrant and was ruthless to his people. The only problem I have with the war was that Bush lied to he world body about WMD. That was the whole reason for going to Iraq according to him. You could tell his other motives as we got closer to war he would add "regime change" to his speaches.
The point is if Bush had come out and said "SAddam is a bad guy and we want to prevent him from killing his own people, attacking another country and aquiring WMD" I know the UN would not have backed him, but he wouldn't have lied and I might have supported his decision. I think the US population is confused. I don't like it when I hear that the war in Iraq was part of the war on terrorism. This upsets me. Saying this is using those who died on 9/11 as an excue to attack Iraq. Bush made no such connection and i'm glad he didn't. Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 or al quedia. All in all Bush told me that there was WMD in Iraq and that is why he must go there. There has not been any found, and I feel lied to. Now i'm glad Canada didn't commit troops, even though at the time I thought we should be there. And on that basis I don't feel the war is justified. Do I think the population is better off? Now maybe not so much but when they get everything under control and after a few years I think things will be much better. And yeah Madmartagen, I think that was the video. |
Canadians no more about bush then americans.
Good Ownage 99 |
I'm dissapointed we haven't found WMDs yet either, but I don't feel lied to. There is still a possibility that there are some. Iraq is a big country, and it's not like we were going to find some the second we got in there. As soon as we have total control and these guerilla attacks stop our chances of finding something such as WMDs will increase.
That's just me, I can totally see how you feel lied to and don't believe there are any WMDs, but I just don't see it that way. |
