So as long as you can line your pockets with American dollars your all for rebuilding Iraq. How about if any contract awarded to these countries be paid by the country that wins them. I for one am tired of paying for all this shit. Who rebuilt Europe after WW2. Who rebuilt Japan after WW2. I can understand why the Chinese hate us so much because we didn't rebuild thier country, but holy smokes, why doesn't the Bush family rebuild Iraq out of thier fat pockets?
I feel much better now. Thanks!

I think Canada should get some of the dough, France & Germany can suck on it though. cuss:

When they refer to countries who didn't support the US, I took it to mean countries that denounced publicly - or refused to support publicly - the war itself in Iraq.

The countries who are NOT on the list of those disallowed from contracts have had the blood of their young men and women spilled on that soil. Just one life is worth a whole lot more than $300 million. Period.

And don't forget that there are almost NO restrictions on subcontracting, so it isn't like the countries who invested only money will get absolutely no return. It might just take a bit longer to make the money back. No matter how long we wait, the lives of those soldiers can't be regained.

Yeah, well while soldiers were dying in Iraq, Canadian soldiers were dying in Afghamistan. Does it make a difference?

Bush to Chrétien: don't worry about Iraq contracts

Bush to Chrétien: don't worry about Iraq contracts
Last Updated Thu, 11 Dec 2003 12:42:28
OTTAWA - Prime Minister Jean Chrétien said Canada won't be excluded from contracts to rebuild Iraq.

At a news conference with China's premier, Chrétien said U.S. President George W. Bush called him Thursday morning and told him to ignore reports in the media that Canada will not be eligible for the contracts.

"He told me not to worry," Chrétien said.

He said Bush wished him good luck on his last day as prime minister and thanked him for Canada's military role in Afghanistan and the country's financial contribution to rebuilding Iraq.

The White House has come under fire for saying it will shut out countries that refused to take part in the U.S.-led war on Iraq from bidding on $18.6 billion US in reconstruction contracts.

Chrétien said he's feeling nostalgic on his last day as Prime Minister.

"I will miss many things. I will miss the press believe it or not. But on the other had, I intend to be very active.

Chrétien said once he's officially retired, he won't comment publicly on the new government.

"I will observe from home and as I promised with no comment."

"If (the party) goes too far to the left, I will say nothing. If they go too far to the right I il say nothing. It's not my business."

WOW HOGMAN!!! I am quite impressed, did you come up with that insult all by yourself? I can see you must have put a lot of time into that one. Hahaha Fuckstick, I have to write that one down. What a fucking idiot! In reply to that post, a bit personal you say? If you were an Iraqi, and the U.S. came into your home and bombed it to shit, I'd bet you'd call them some worse things than assholes! Try looking at it from a different perspective!

Research more.

The only countries 'black listed' were ones that flat out said no.

Many countries not on the list never sent a penny or a soldier to aid in Iraq, they just never said no.

Don't make flat out assumtions.

Canada gave hundreds of millions to the US for Iraq and has offered a number of times to send RCMP personal over there to aid in rebuilding the Iraqi police force, being turned down by the US everytime. Now they say we refused to support them in any way!

Also, they state that there are "security" reasons as to why Canadian, French, and German companies shouldn't be allowed contracts. That's Bullshit!

What the US Government has done is very unethical, under-handed, and bad politics. hake:

Canada is not being refused from Iraqi resconstruction contracts, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Try and have a discussion where you you don't lump us all as being assholes and I won't say anything. No I am not Iraqi and my guess is that
you aren't either. No one bombed your house so why don't you go back to
writing down my insults and shut that fecal eating orifice you call a mouth.

You cant say that Canada refused to help at the beggining of the war in Iraq.

"If military action in Iraq is launched without a U.N. resolution, Canada will not participate."

Canada is just playing by the rules, France on the other hand rolleyes:
