Akuma 04-28-2003 06:45 PM

I've always wanted to go to France... I could never scarf up that mush money though. What was it like to see the D-Day beaches? Are there any obstacles and such still on the beach?

04-28-2003 07:05 PM

meet any chicks?

Static 04-28-2003 07:17 PM

ive been to utah ,carentan,st.lo,twas good stuff seeing the old landing boats and stuff , umm have been to other well known places but cant remember em :/ i do remember seeing a army shop selling loads of old stuff like standard german army helmets and lugers and stuff

There wasnt any tank traps at Utah but there was quite a few old bunkers with battered shell holds in the side :) and some old flak cannons

Bazooka_Joe 04-28-2003 07:30 PM

Very nice, man. Glad you enjoyed yourself. I saw some pics my friend took for me of the beaches, and how they lay out all the landing craft for you to see, and how the murderholes are almost all eaten away.

04-28-2003 07:33 PM

that would be so eerie if you went down on the beach (Probably not allowed, i dunno, never been there) and the tide ate away some of the sand, and there you see an M1 or something sticking out of the ground. And you know that this was dropped by a man who gave his life for me.

You are allowed to go on all the beaches.

Ydiss 04-28-2003 08:34 PM

I've been to France for an afternoon. Popped over on the ferry, got some cheap booze, cigs and aftershave and popped back!

I'd not really want to stay much longer there. Looneys drive on the wrong side of the road... biggrin:

You are allowed to go on all the beaches.

And the place has been metal detected to hell and back, so chances are slim.

I wanna backpack through the old world. That's the best way to travel, gives you that sense of adventure. That's my dream, The Innoxx Eurasia Tour; Land in Ireland, go down south through Scotland, Wales and England. Take the chunnel; travel around France, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Poland and then Russia.
Then I'll take the Trans-Siberian railway across Russia, and hook up with the Orient Express. Go into China and switch back west again through Nepal, India, Pakistan.
Pass through the Middle East and go to those cool places in the Mediterranian like Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Libya, Tunisia, Sardinia, Ibiza, Corsica, Morrocco, Spain, Portugal and end up back in Brittany. Of course doing all that would take me like a whole decade but in the end it'll be WELL worth it.

God, I wish North America was like that, you fly four hours in any direction and still be in the same goddamn country.

snipeymagoo 04-28-2003 08:47 PM

Milla 04-28-2003 08:49 PM

Blow me canuck biggrin:

Ydiss 04-28-2003 08:51 PM

Sounds great, Innoxx. Pity you'd not get even as far as the Chunnel before you ran out of time due to the delays on the British rail systems.

Do you know that the trains entering the Chunnel from France travel at around a max speed of over 130 miles an hour.

When they emerge at the English end they attach the horses to the front.

Yeah, I heard the conductors run over people on a nearly daily basis. I don't really get car, train or sea sick though.

I'm think around 200 grand.

ninty 04-28-2003 10:40 PM

Lol.

Just a measly 200 grand.

You could do it, if you took a couple years off and worked in the places you went through.

I ahev always wanted to go to Europe as well. Take a flight to London and then get across to the main land.

ON a totally offtiopic note the Cheif of Defense Staff visited the Mewata Armoury tonight. Hes the top guy in the Canadiian Army. Hes a 4 star general, but hes Airforce, so hes a pussy. He inspected our unit and talked to the guy to my right. I;m glad he skipped over me cause I had a friggin button undone on my shirt. I got in some major shit for that. Can you believe I forgot to do a button up? Fuck. Anyway he hardly said anything and then left. Kinda cool to have the highest reanking general inspect you. I doubt any other people can say they've had the same done.

cameltoe 04-28-2003 11:52 PM

ive had the highest rankin police officer give me a cavity search.. thats almost as good.

but i think it woulnt cost 200 grand , more like 75 or something depending in which hotels you stay in and how you travel
