I've always wanted to go to France... I could never scarf up that mush money though. What was it like to see the D-Day beaches? Are there any obstacles and such still on the beach?

There wasnt any tank traps at Utah but there was quite a few old bunkers with battered shell holds in the side and some old flak cannons

Very nice, man. Glad you enjoyed yourself. I saw some pics my friend took for me of the beaches, and how they lay out all the landing craft for you to see, and how the murderholes are almost all eaten away.

that would be so eerie if you went down on the beach (Probably not allowed, i dunno, never been there) and the tide ate away some of the sand, and there you see an M1 or something sticking out of the ground. And you know that this was dropped by a man who gave his life for me.

I've been to France for an afternoon. Popped over on the ferry, got some cheap booze, cigs and aftershave and popped back!
I'd not really want to stay much longer there. Looneys drive on the wrong side of the road... biggrin:

And the place has been metal detected to hell and back, so chances are slim.

I wanna backpack through the old world. That's the best way to travel, gives you that sense of adventure. That's my dream, The Innoxx Eurasia Tour; Land in Ireland, go down south through Scotland, Wales and England. Take the chunnel; travel around France, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Poland and then Russia.
Then I'll take the Trans-Siberian railway across Russia, and hook up with the Orient Express. Go into China and switch back west again through Nepal, India, Pakistan.
Pass through the Middle East and go to those cool places in the Mediterranian like Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Libya, Tunisia, Sardinia, Ibiza, Corsica, Morrocco, Spain, Portugal and end up back in Brittany. Of course doing all that would take me like a whole decade but in the end it'll be WELL worth it.
God, I wish North America was like that, you fly four hours in any direction and still be in the same goddamn country.
