LOCKED THREADS?

Nobody is ever happy with the mods, unless they are a mod...I'm sure if most of the people here ever became mods they wouldn't be complaining.

Thats why i always attach my name to any post i edit/move/question.

Those that want to lead shouldn't... those that don't want to lead should. ;)

I've noticed this too, just didn't care too much. I probably missed out on a couple dozen replies or so telling someone to STFU or Die or some dumb shit like that. Wait a minute, that's all offtopic is anyway.

Probably too many mods. However, can't say that I've objected to them locking any particular threads.

why do we have so many offtopic mod's anyway?
de-mod the 3 new guys that were recently moded, are they really needed?
I think they are causing more problems than solving problems.

Ok, to answer this question for the hundredth time....we needed more mods because of BS and Zoner not being able to keep an eye on things. Plus, us mods are on at all different times hence a better job keeping things in check.
The only time a thread should be deleted and or edited is when it breaks the rules (p0rn, warez, unrelentless flaming, going waaaaay off topic, reposts) ...things of that nature. The mods should assign their names when applicable so you'd have someone to cry to when your feelings get hurt.

Does that answer everbody's question? Can we finally move forward?

i doubt we need this many mod's in offtopic. this place isnt that popular, but ya make it seem like there needs to be someone here 24/7.

if you want threads to stay open longer, i'm going to delete any post that has NB4LOCK in it, because that is the biggest contributor to it

I agree mods should use the delete function to delete any offtopic posts. Not just lock a whole thread. I am happy with the mods we have, I believe they are the members of the forum that deserve it the most. But maybe they are getting abit too 'harsh'!

im agreeing with tgb. Admitting I was immature in some thread I was sure would be locked, the mods have been going a little gun crazy. And call me crazy aswell but Ive only noticed this happening since the new mods became mods. Wether or not it is them I dont know as whoever is doign it doesnt have the cajones to tag their name on the lock(which I think should be a rule). This is off topic, it will get offtopic like it has since the day I signed on and a year before that. It a fact of the forum so the crazy guys need to calm down a little and let things happen within the rules.

In regards to deleting posts to save a thread - this is done constantly. I know for a fact that Gerv and Tony have done this as well. Thing is, when we start deleting posts to save a thread, people start bitching about that (Unknown_Sniper).

As far as locked threads.. too many threads were getting by simply because no one had the time to sift through all the crap. That is why there are more mods. And with more mods less crap is falling through the cracks, hence more locks.

Im seeing threads locked simply because mods dont want to "deal with it" - nevermind the thread is STILL there and further contributes to the rancor on the forum. If the thread is so offensive, then delete it all. . .threads should be "locked" only if there is useful information but the topic has exhausted its use and is running in circles.

1) Who said anything about not having the time/desire to deal with a thread?

2) Obviously, a pain in the ass. We have plenty of people who still do that today.

3) You're a mod, I'm sure you know that you can't split threads on these forums. The only thing you can do is delete posts to try and save a thread. The problem is that people keep posting the same shit over in a thread and screaming out "VIVE LA REVOLUTION" or "omfgnazihitlerz on teh forumz" when you delete their post of " oOo: " or some other meaningless, thread derailing spam.

4) I don't recall anyone locking threads because they "didn't want to deal with it," however I've locked threads and seen threads locked when people failed to stop posting the same crap we were deleting from the thread in the first place.

5) You should know that it is GF1 policy - and has been way back into the aa.com days - to avoid deleting threads at all costs. This is straight from the mouth of BadScript and until he or Zoner say otherwise, it is the policy all the moderators should be following. BadScript has - on several occasions - made very clear what he wishes to allow to take place and what he does not wish to allow to take place. Now, with his absence, perhaps Zoner has the authority or willingness to change this. But you'll have to ask him.

What the fuck was wrong with the forums before? They were fine. Now there is double the authority telling us we're naughty and locking our threads. Alot of whom were regular rule-breakers like the rest of us before they became mods.

Flames are gf1/aa.com....I've never heard of a mod try to oust that in the history of the forums. I understand having too many flames, but you can't cancel out flaming altogether.

I seriously think someone needs to revise the mod list, or at least explain to them that this place has gone to the shitter anyway, and that it should be becoming more lenient, not more facist..... oOo:

We're not going to have very many new members (if any) coming across here without a mainpage, so why is everyone so bent on "cleaning" this place up by locking everything....?? Who are we cleaning for? Ourselves? Nein. We've already established we like living in shit.
