WinRar
I have a bin file that is compressed in winrar over many files. Its about 4.6 Gb in size (yes its a movie). Anyway I try to extract it in winrar and it says the file is to big to extract and I need to use NTFS. So I researched NTFS and learned that I can't use it on an operating system lower than windows 2000. I have ME so I am fucked there. Does anybody know a way I could extract it without converting to xp. Your help would be appreciated very much.

Seriously ur fucked. The only other way would to be get an "cough" version of XP from a friend and dual boot or somethin.
|
Burn it onto a DVD and take it to a friend. For future reference - the max file size using FAT32 is 4 GB (minus 1 byte).

That is such bullshit i hate windows ME so much. Are you sure there is no program that could split the bin file in two extract it then put it back together.(yeah I know im dreamning)

No (unless I'm misunderstanding you) because when you put it back together the file's still going to be larger than 4GB. hake: |
Oops I misspoked. I meant to say is there a way I could split it in two and then be able to extract the files from the bin while it is seperated. Im sure someone else has thought of it. It might be possible.

I'll have a look around, but I haven't heard of anything like that. eek:

whats the max file size for NTFS?
whats the max file size for NTFS?[/quote:d7d44]
If you're using NTFS then you're limited by the size of the volume you're creating the file on. Example: If you have a 60GB drive, and you haven't partitioned it, you'd be able to create a file close to 60GB in size (60GB minus the space used by your OS and program files, porn etc) |

Follow this[/url:dbec3] guide. If you haven't partitioned your drive then all your personal files, downloaded shit etc, will need to be backed up before you install XP. If you have everything on the same partition as your current OS (you keep everything on C:\), and you install XP, everything goes bye-bye! Try to remember that! spank: |
