Comp is F*cked

Ok so i went to wake my PC up from sleep mode last night....and when i moved the mouse the screen stayed black. I hit keys on my keyboard, nothing, reboooted nothing. So i switched out monitors...nothing. I put a new vid card in...nothing....any ideas? Maybe the HD is fucking dead?

Akuma 09-25-2005 03:33 PM

When your press power do your fans and mobo lights come on? Just no video output?

Milla 09-25-2005 03:33 PM

Yeh everything turns on...one thing is i dont hear the internal speaker make that beep noise on a reboot or start up like it use to.

Stammer 09-25-2005 03:34 PM

I get that too, and when I turn it off and back on I get video back. Not sure why it does it but I can live with it.

Edit: Ouch you don't get the start up noises? Thats not good.

Akuma 09-25-2005 03:35 PM

Might be dead cpu... Two of my friends have had that problem with DOA cpus. Mobo lights turn on but no vid output. RMAed it and it worked fine.

So you think the CPU is bad?

Akuma 09-25-2005 03:38 PM

That would be my guess, but you should post it on hardforum when it's back up.

Milla 09-25-2005 03:39 PM

hardforum.com im guessing?

Fucking A man what a POS, i hate this computer. If its not one thing its something else. I definatly dont have money for an upgrade right now...so it looks like im SOL.

Akuma 09-25-2005 03:43 PM

You wouldn't happen to have another CPU that you could test it with? Or know someone with a similar computer, at least same socket.

Judas 09-25-2005 03:51 PM

try to remove the battery and see if itll boot. you can also try to reseat the power cable on the motherboard. also, if you have switch on your power supply try flipping that fuker a few times on and off, and powering up a few times.

you can also remove all connection - video card and try to boot and see what happens. if you are able to boot, add 1 thing at a time booting until it stops and you could find your problem.

Unfortunatley no.

And i removed the battery out of the mobo and still nothing. Also nothing but the power supply and monitor is hooked up. so.

Akuma 09-25-2005 04:01 PM

hardforum.com is back up now, maybe you'll get more solid answers there

dr nein 09-25-2005 04:02 PM

it's the CPU. next time be a man and don't use sleep mode.

Milla 09-25-2005 04:08 PM

I just tried an old C drive i had laying around, still didnt boot, screen is still black. Its gotta be CPU.

dr nein 09-25-2005 04:15 PM

that's what i told jew. if it was the HD it would at least boot up.

Milla 09-25-2005 04:16 PM

dr nein 09-25-2005 06:05 PM

nublets. you have to imprint a picture of jesus on it. THEN you can sell it for a ton of cash to some jesus freaks.

Milla 09-25-2005 06:13 PM

Its the mobo thats fried numbs, cause when i boot up it isnt even posting

dr nein 09-25-2005 06:15 PM

that makes no fucking sense. YOU MUST BE CLEAR IN YOUR SHIT.

plus without a spare CPU it would be difficult to be 100% sure.

Akuma 09-25-2005 06:18 PM

if the mobo is fried then you wouldn't get any lights or fans

geRV 09-25-2005 06:21 PM

Could be the gfx card as well, had a similar problem a few years ago and it turned out to be the gfx board. annoy:

That as well, thats the prob with pc's when one thing goes wrong theres a shitload of possible suspects, would take you to own a friggin pc parts store half the time to be able to figure out what went wrong.

Whereas with a mac you just hit it with a petrol bomb and buy a new one.

Himmler 09-25-2005 08:09 PM

i had a really similiar problem milla a few years ago. turned on pc in the morning, was frozen. rebooted, woulndt post. tried new cpu, worked fine. but i tried the new cpu after i replaced the motherboard and powersupply. i had a new motherboard i bought anyway so i just put it in then to see if that would fix it. didnt, so then i tried a diff cpu at my dads work and it worked fine.

Well if the agp slot is bad in essence the mobo is fried. I tried an old CPU and got nothing still so, my guess and my fathers guess is the motherboard went bad, or atleast a part of it did.I mean it wont even post

armed.zip 09-25-2005 11:08 PM

good time for an asus sli premium milla

Milla 09-26-2005 01:55 PM

Unfortunatley i had to put the cost of parts on my credit card because i need my PC back ASAP for school and shit. So i bought an AMD 64 3500+, a gig of dual channel OCZ memory, and a gigabyte board with an ATI Radeon X800XL pci-express. Next year since the mobo can handel it i might get one of those nifty Dual core AMD's, but right now im slim on cash.

Akuma 09-26-2005 02:09 PM

Why Gigabyte?
Sell of your old stuff too.

Milla 09-26-2005 02:11 PM

Gigabyte just because the price is cheap, plus before whatever happened to this board which is like 3 and a half years old it was very stable, my dad has a gigabyte board and its stable, i had one beforee this one and it to was stable, i dunno i just like them. Plus i dont have to deal with setting up my HD(not a good enough reason) for another company when the gigabyte drivers and things are already on there. But the real reason i went with them is for the price of what im getting. I dont want/ need SLi so.
