Yeah I'm using winXP Pro. It pisses me off every day. But it runs all my crap fine.
I just can't get the GOD DAMN $HIT FU(|<ING BASTARD TO NETWORK 2 kickass computers which share a net connection via a HUB. I use to have 2 NIC's in my comps, took em out and tried other stuff but THE PEICE OF FU(|<ING GOAT $HIT won't work hake: |
I have XP Pro . I don't have many complaints about it . At least not since service pack 1 was released . Why the change ?
|
heh, I have XP Pro.
I have 3 comps networked. No problems here. I think that other guy just has issues.. Your not going to see a noticable differance from home to pro If all you do is play games, and its a personal PC.. no point in switching over. He just wants to put corporate on because its hacked and got it for free. thats all. Just be careful. I had a friend that put on the corporate, and the service pack termintated it. but then another friend, his corporate still works fine. I get all my MS software totally ligit and at no cost.. |
SP1 tried to ternminate it but there was quickly aa way around it.
also, i managed to network two computers on a router, one on windows 95, mine on winXP prof. But then i took the windows 95 comp off and networked with a laptop, now the laptop is gone but i can't get it to network with 95 anymore... kind of of screwy i think... |
Getting your laptop back on the network
Quote:
Click Start, then Run Type winipcfg [Enter] Click on arrow and look for your NIC, then click on it Click Release Click Renew, and wait a few moments. You will get a new ip address. An be able to browse the network. If you at any time get an error message saying Cannot Release, then reboot the pc. If still unable. Uninstall the NIC drivers and reinstall them. |
i have xp corp set up with a hub that connects my sons pc with xp as well. cinch and no problem. get me on the flower at 68504473 if you need help.

If you are trying to network a Win95 workstation with a WinXP workstation, then you have to go through Xp's networking manager to add the Win95 workstation to your network. XP will copy over necessary files to the Win95 workstation and VOILA! You can now see your other PC. Simple as that.

Home sucks if you are using a home network. It has alot of missing features that you won't notice until you need to work with other PC's remotely and contact other PC's on your connection.
Go with XP Pro. |
