Odd thing with my computer...

Well, this seems to only happen when I'm playing a game, the computer speaker beeps like a car alarm sometimes. It's happened twice this morning while playing Devastation, and once yeserday playing Nascar 2003. Anybody have any idea why it could be doing this? The only way I can seem to get rid of it is to reset the comp.

i think it's your computer telling you to get rid of that crap Devestation!

Nah, just happened in Postal 2 also. I just really want to know how turn off the PC speaker if it isn't a major problem (which it shouldn't be) And Devastation SP is actually quite neat, I like it. Nothing special, but kind of nice.[/b]

all ican say is maybe its your sound card, which one do you got?

Your computer is dieing, you need a new one, even though it's probably a a few years old.

Slinky2397 04-19-2003 12:43 PM

I think it's just overheating a bit...And no, I'm not getting a new computer, fine the way it is.

On my old computer I would turn it on and it would freeze after 15 minutes cause it overheats. I went to get it fixed and found out i needed to get a new power suply cause my fan wasnt running. Maybe this is happening to u.

Slinky2397 04-19-2003 02:57 PM

No, no, it was shutting down last week, but it just needed to be cleaned, ass load of dust. This is just a thing with the PC speaker making a sound like a car alarm that's really fucking annoying.

how long have you had your speakers? i've had mine for over 2 years and it never ahd any problem, none, ever

Slinky2397 04-19-2003 04:09 PM

It's not the actual speakers. It's the PC speaker, inside of the computer. You know, it's like on the motherboard, the one that bitches if you hold a button like ctrl too long (at least for me when I play DoD)

Sergeant_Scrotum 04-19-2003 07:56 PM

id put my money on over heating. try taking the cover off & put a fan beside it & play again. if it dosent beep then you know you have a heat problem.

Zap. USMC 04-19-2003 08:14 PM

Yeah, it's overheating.

...yeah, sounds like overheating...jus remove the case and place ice-cubes on all horizontal surfaces in comp.,
replace case...also, keep most often used CDs in freezer. cool:

It worked!

Actually, it hasn't happened to me since, so it may just be a random thing. Yesterday I played Unreal 2 for like 5 hours straight and it didn't do it so it might be. I don't know..
