Limited Resources Mod
 
I came up with a weapon mod idea. I have a couple of ideas that I want to run past you guys first.

1. Should I disallow partial reloads? (like the m1garand)
2. Should weaponbashing be a 1shot1kill?
3. Should I remove the health/ammo that drops after a player dies?

I'm pondering the above ideas. Give me some input. Thanks.

1. only until there are a certain amount of bullets left...
ex- 3 bullets for BAR, 5 bullets for SMG, etc

3. no, it helps you to survive the fight, the avg player usually dies like a few minutes later anyway...

The basic concept of the mod is to force the player to think before he/she shoots or runs out in the open. Higher damage rates and lower ammo counts should push the idea along.

Should I mess with animations? Slow them down or speed them up so that it takes longer to reload. I'm open to ideas.

well i do think that the anims on most ww2 games are waaaay to fast, so slowing them down would be more realistic, but if its realism youre going for, why not encourage players to use the rifle, wich was the most common weapon in ww2 by making it a 1-shot kill as well

also, incorporating a nade expl mod into it would be phat, i just dl'ed "the one" nade mod and its amazing, but only recommended for fast comps

Uhm.. Yeah, cuz the body disappears and his rifle stays on the ground with a double clip..

1. Yes, I think you should dissallow partial reloads just so it makes people conserve their shots a little more.

2. No, because you can hit someone over the head and not kill them, not to mention peoiple wearing helmets. Also when you bash you dont always hit a spot that would kill someone like if you hit someone in the arm it shouldnt kill them.

3. Definately remove the health because it is kind of ridiculous to just all of a sudden get health when you kill someone. But, you should definately leave the ammo because it makes sense to grab ammo off of a dead guy. Soldiers always did that when they had the chance. Also if you are going dissallow partial reloads you should give us some way of increasing are ammo.

Can't wait to see what the whole mod entails. Keep it up!

I can control the amount of clips that are dropped. But, that is only controlled by a server-sided CVAR. So, let me know if I should just leave the dropped ammo as is, or reduce to 1 clip.

1. I play Raven Sheild as well and the way that game handles reloads is that you can change a partial clip for a full one but partial stays at same ammo count so sooner or later you will load a partial clip. I dont know if you can do that in AA though.

2. not one but maybe two in AA where there only the pistol you can bash with. In SH rifles should be one.

3. Health should be removed. Not ammo though if it was posible ammo should be for a specific weapons. I.E. you cant use a MP40 ammo in a Thompson etc.

This actually sounds like a cool mod something like RB with respawn.

Slowing down the reload speed is a definate must. Also you should limit fire capability. Say for instance the bazooka, you shouldnt be capable of firing it while running. Make is so the person has to stop and maybe even kneel just to fire the thing. Not sure if thats possible, but maybe if you have an idea to get it goin I could help with the needed anim changes. I also think that for all other weapons the aim should be thrown off much more than it is while moving. this would help make people more stationary while firing and make them learn to aim. I know this is possible due to the body bounce effect when moving, if ya could just increase that it should do the trick. I can't count how often im killed by some fool whos just running around spraying a smg like wild in every direction.

I was thinking would adjusting player bob acording to weapon be an idea.
So if for instance u were running with a rifle and fired it would be harder than it is now encouraging u to take cover and aim. Also a delay selecting weapons cos again for example your pistol would be holstered so would take longer to get out. Also would it be possible to take away health drops but give players morphine packs about 25 health each so they can heal themselves but not too much.
one last thing lol is would it be possible to limit how many players have a specific weapon so not everyone can have mg or rockets etc
just some thoughts btw nice work
