Some of us knew a little more about the war than the average person I think, but nothing compared to the amount we know now :). A lot of research has gone into this game, and I think we all have a different outlook on the war as compared to when we started :).

Well if it wasn't for Earl (Coriolis on here) we'd in the negatives IQ-wise (he alone keeps us up there ;)p.
Well, alot of good info is available out there on the net. Go to a good search engine and just enter WWII and see what you get. Any book by Stephen Ambrose is a great place to start as well. 'Citizen Soldiers' or 'D-Day', and there's a fairly large book he's got called 'American Heritage New History of World War II' with lots of great pics from the era, and has a lot of great info covering the whole span of the war. A lot of the other books we have are specialty books. For instance we have a small book just on Tiger tanks, one on combat aircraft of WWII, lots of books covering uniforms (there's a series called the Osprey Series by Concord Publishing that covers uniforms of all different kinds of troops across all of history, they've got some great stuff). We also have several books on German bunkers, U-Boat pens and submarines, Artillery pieces, etc.... Jeff, one of our artists here, is like the king of digging up the obscure stuff. I swear he can hunt down a link on the web, or a book on the hardest to find stuff :). He's got a ton of books he's bought for his own personal collection just on WWII that we've all used. ------------------ ----------------------- Latuh fuh U, Benson benson@2015.com "We don't introduce or cause bugs in the game, we merely find and bring to light the inadequacies within the code." -regarding level designers |
I am a total WW2 buff, but I have to admit it all started once I got the first MOH game. I ended up doing a research paper on the OSS because I was so interested. Just to let you know I got a 98 on the paper. One of the interesting things I found out was that Hitler's gardener secretly was against Hitler. The OSS gave him some female hormones to put in his vegetables to make Hitler go over the edge. I believe it was called off the last minute though. I also found out that the Americans used Navajo (or some other tribe) Indians to communicate. They did this so the Axis could not intercept communications. I believe that story is being made into a movie soon. I think it's called Wind Talkers or something like that. This year I did a report on Heinrich Himmler, not as interesting, but still much better than the other topics I had to choose from. Thanks to MOH I have the utmost respect for veterans. I only wish it was still called the OSS instead of the CIA. Not to many people even know what the OSS was.

I do recognize some of the stuff I learned from the books I read. Thanks for the link. |
