I dont see what harm a demo can do, they might as well have one. Maybe it will bring some new interest to the game and people will like it even more now.

i still got a geforce 2 64mb on a pentium 3 1.0...

i still got a geforce 2 64mb on a pentium 3 1.0 GHz, 256ram and with medium graphics setting i still get around 30-40 fps, not too bad and i dont really care if my graphics dont look absolutly...
