so whats the easiest way to change your ip on a router other than calling up a your provider? i could change it before without a router but now that i got one i dont know how.
if you're behind a router you have an internal ip addressing scheme. you can log into your router via a web browser by typing in the ROUTER's IP in the address bar. you should have a login and password for it (this is if you have a basic home router like linksys). you can change the internal addresses and all that good stuff.
if you have a cisco router, which you definitely dont, you can console in with hyper terminal and configure.

exactly, MAC addresses are permant. if you could there would be no point to them in a network because they identify the computer in a DHCP network. IP addresses can change easily. You can spoof your MAC address, which is probably what that is, but that is not changing it.
