mr. eames, if you in fact have ever played vietcong, you would know that it doesnt suck.

and animal, it is a very good game, but it is by no means "waaaayyy" better than call of duty either.

there are features in vietcong which surpass cod, such as while crouched, you can use your iron sights and slowly rise above objects...such as large rocks or bushes. also, when you sling your weapons, they have animations for it and you actually see the weapon on the characters back.

imo vietcong was a groundbreaking game, that continues to get little to no recognition. it was the first game to sucessfully feature the iron sights, and its gameplay is very good. for me, the only down side is that it ran like absolute crap on my machine. its netcode was pretty unstable, frequent lag etc. cod, on the otherhand, is the smoothest online game i have ever played. beer:

Vietcong, IMO, was just another mediocre title to try out while waiting for a good game to come out. The feature you mention are ok, but the gameplay was disjointed and the AI was pure scripting and trigger points. The gameplay was lacking something. It had a very campish feel to it.

i wasnt referring to the single player of it at all. so the AI didnt concern me. it had very innovative mp features, and for that alone i think it deserves recognition. cod takes their iron sights directly from vc. also, the ability to set booby traps , and mines and call in air strikes was really cool. the "vietcong" mode of gameplay was really innovative as well. in this mode, there was no crosshair, no hud, no damage meter, nothing except your gun. very challeging and realistic.

VC > Cod

Im sorry COD is a piss poor MOHAA knock off. [quote:7b6f5]but the gameplay was disjointed and the AI was pure scripting and trigger points. [/quote:7b6f5] And you cant say that about COD? BULLSHIT, cod has to be one of the worst offenders of this "reach this point" triggers. Men magically appear out of no where to continue fighting until you reach a certain point or do something specific.

VC's realistic damage model as opposed to cod's rediculas arcade knock down and get back up half mag kills. Honestly VC is the biggest breath of fresh air into the otherwise bland FPS market. It strays from typical conventions of the genre that cod sadly falls flat on its face into.

I'll put it this way. I had VC loaded twice on my computer, one was the US release, the other was the un-censored version released other places. I still have the uncensored version installed and im just waiting for the X pack. COD i played for 1 day, didnt complete, and un-installed less than 3 days after getting it. The MP was odd, though certain levels were entertaining. VC MP was completly incredible. Airstrikes, coop, "VC" mode, all are awsome features.

I was truly saddened when VC didnt do as well as i had hoped. I really wanted it to become something. Something deserving of its level of greatness, and inovation.
