a simple whois lookup should do the trick.

If that doesnt work.. go into command prompt and ping the domain name. It'll tell you the ip address its pinging.

and this was locked why?

No you dont need the ip address to ping, you can use a domain name and it'll give a the ip address it'll ping though.

telnet wont really give you this sort of information. It is used to connect to or logon to remote machines/computers. For example at work we use it to connect to and configure our switches.
