The domain name debate should not hold us up, we should move on. I've said time and time again, that it's nice to have something like ak47.com; then again, content IS king. Personally, I wouldn't mind typing in
http://www.fj83nf29lahfg0w.com/ three times a day if the site is interesting and helpful to me; Plus there is a certain feature available on every browser called bookmark. So I guess, groundforce1.com it is. calmdown:
Now, for the new website, we will have the following positions:
[*]Website designer. This isn't dedicated, just a one time deal. Someone suggestd that we start a thread and vote for the best layout as our new layout, I think that's a great idea. Your layout-work will be credited.[*]Section manager. Responsible person for a section. MoH:X is a section. CoD:X is a section. A section at our new site is exactly like what aa.com is now, composed of (mainly) news, mms, forum, squad list, game info, and more. A section manager should know his game well, and more importantly, should be an
active and
respectful member of the community. [*]Section staff. Reponsbile for a specific part of a section. (see 'Section Staffs' below).[*]I'm not looking for new moderators. Sure I will need more moderators as the website expands, but for each section we'll have section manager and staffs as moderators. As for the "Lounge" forums, we shall carry on with the election process every three months.
Sections: MoH:X, CoD:X, BF:X, MoV:V, VietCong:X and American Army. I know HL2 and Doom3 are supposed to be the second coming of FPS, but so was Duke Nukem Forever - Look, We don't want to try to cover every single FPS out there, but focusing on military-themed, semi-realistic and authentic FPSs instead. Please suggest more sections, especially if you are ready to work on the section you purpose.
Section Staffs: (for each section we need)[*]A news person, who will post news for us. He will have the rights to post news on the front page. All news from different sections will go onto the same front page but categorized. News posting can be done through the forum, it's almost exactly like positing a new topic. I will help you get onto the corresponding PR person's mailing list, if necessary.[*]An MMS person, who will approve user created files for us. The operation is extremely easy, you have the option to download and test out the file before everybody else do, and then you decide whether or not the file is in the right category, has sufficient documentation and more importantly works as advertised. Approval and rejection are done through a custom interface and all you need to do is click. Communication with the file creator can be done through the forum. You will need to know a lot about skins, maps and all sorts of other mods. [*]A Guide manager. Easy, read the submitted guide, decide whether or not it is worth our reader's while - to approve it, click, and it will be published, otherwise, reject and give a reason, straight back to the submitter's mailbox.[*]A Squad list manager. Approve squad registrations. Just make sure we don't have some "l33t child-fucking corpse-eating ultra ooooh-so-scary" squads polluting our community. Bascially you have nothing to do, but if you like to communicate with squad leaders and to organize events (like touraments or leagues) for squads, then this is the best position for you.[*]A server admin. Yes I am planning to have at least one game server for each game we cover, and yes I will be responsible financially for the game servers, you **#$&(# loney: . Anyway, someone PM me and send me some good deals and I'll get them sorted out. I am kinna hoping that the server admin and the squad list manager could be the same person for each section, because I'm thinking of a feature for squads to book our servers for practicing or matching purposes.
I'm also thinking of hosting different tournaments for each game. From past experience it is extremely easy to get the game publisher to send us some goodies like t-shirts, mugs, signed copies and what not for prize, otherwise most squads/players will be happy to duke it out just for the heck of it... If necessary, I can do the (initial) communication with the publisher, but someone will have to actually log onto the server and record the results. We've done that ONE time here, and it was tougher than I thought...
If you're interested please sign up for section staff positions, and we will figure out who will become the section manager.
I'm trying to speed up the process and get everything settled because I am having a rare moment of not having to work 12 hours a day, and who knows how long it will last. So please, if you are interested, sign up below.
P.S. Website designer is the urgent one, I need the layout to start working on... anything. Sign up below and I will send you the details.
