Default Spotlight - 12-06-2004, 11:29 AM

need a tut on creating a nonmoving spotlight (basically a light, beam and spot on ground lit up) using radient. searching has only gotten me scripts for moving spotlights.

i've also tried creating a light, then a info_null and then hitting control k but i don't know how to create the light 'patch ' on the ground.

its was taken from nemesis's site:
I will try to help:

1. In 2D view, right click equipment-searchlightbase

2. "n", enter:
K: targetname V: spotlight
K: #set V: 1
K: #group V: 1

3. 2D view, right click info-splinepaths. this is where the light will search for you. place several in a loop to create the search effect.

4. "n", enter for first splinepath:
K: targetname V: spotpath1_1
K: target V: path1

5. Next spline path:
K: targetname V: path1
K: target V: path2

6. keep doing this until you reach the last splinepath and use "spoypath1_1" for it's target.

7. For the script, place "exec global/spotlight.scr"

8. That should work work; I hope

as for no moving place your search light and put a light on the ground(where is the search light is pointing at), adjust the radius of the light so its fit with your search light

i know how to make the light, but not the beam from one surface to the ground.to make a light add this:
[code:937a6]dlight 100 100 100 100[/code:937a6]
it adds light around the object, then numbers are red blue green radius i think, or radius is first.

k got the patch on the ground (real dim) but the origin light above isn't there. tried the searchlight-on and that had the model for the searchlight and the beam of light i wanted.........thinking i'd be just as happy with that model as with anything else. could i combine a light, info_null and the searchlight-on model to make the searchlight and lightpatch on the ground ? if so, is there a way to make the patch bigger ?
