im trying to delete this file:

there is no programs using it and no processes using it.

Are you sure it's not a system file?

see if you can drag it into another folder, probably won't let you though...






Find out what process is using it and shut it down with task manager...

no. cant move or rename.
i closed evry processes until my pc restarted. thank you for your kind words biggrin: btw its on my desktop, ring any bells?

check to see if its read only ....


right click prop att uncheck read only if its checked.

i have this problem with a file on my desktop that failed to completely download, now i cant get rid of it. is it possible to have windows delete a file before everything loads up on startup?

you can write a type of boot virus that says, "delete such and such file at start up" or you can delete it in dos, other than that now

muhahahaha hellfire: , that file is no longer exists in my system.
i used the file called "move on boot" , you can find it here:
