Default In The Name Of The Father - 06-20-2005, 12:39 AM

Just saw this film for the first time - Amazing movie. Absolutely brilliant, very powerful.

It's based on the true story of the Guilford Four, but focuses more directly on one of the four, Gerry Conlon (Daniel Day Lewis), and his father Giusseppe Conlon (Pete Postlethwaite)....

The IRA bomb a pub in england in the 70s, and the British authorities, sick of turning up nothing in the ongoing bombings, convict and imprison the Guilford Four as scapegoats, simply because they were Irish, and essentially in the wrong place at the wrong time. There's a bit more too it than that, but It'd take me a while to explain it all, and I think it's best if you go into it knowing little about it (How I saw it).....The acting is beyond amazing, and could easily be seen as the defining movie of the two lead's careers (Posthlewaite & Day-Lewis).

I believe it won a bunch of oscars when it came out in '93, so alot of you have probably heard of it/seen it...

If you haven't seen it, I thoroughly recommend it - Could be a nice gesture to watch it with your Fathers for Fathers Day, as it has some very strong father-son themes in it.
