There are few things in life that exceed expectations like my new TV did on Saturday morning. The young fellers from Bleeker Stereo showed up around 9:45AM and unloaded the LCD hotness.
There were a few tense moments getting the beast down the stairs to the rec room, but it got down there with no room to spare. Once set up in the room, it was the absolute perfect size for the space we have. It's BIG...but it doesn't dominate. The slimmer design of the LCD models helped with that. It only sticks out about 20" from the wall.
The delivery guys hooked everything up for me, showed me the ins and outs of the remote and the TV features, drank a half pot of coffee I made for them, and left me to bask in the glow.
Star Wars went in the DVD player first. Oh, dear Jeebus. I saw dings and dents in C-3PO that I had never seen before...heh.
Everything I read about LCDs was true. Deep blacks tend to be a little green, but that's the only drawback and a SMALL price to pay. I popped in "Finding Nemo" to really see the colour range of the TV and it was jaw droppingly beautiful.
The digital channels from the satellite dish come in fine...no complaints. Obviously they're not as pristine as HD programming or DVD, but it's very very good. I'll grab an HD box sometime in the future, but I'm in no rush.
Anyway...enough rambling. Yer all welcome to drop in for a movie. BYOB (The second "B" stands for "Bib")
