You're right though when it comes to consumers.

I also find that it becomes less of a big deal when were gradually introduced to it.

For example, I remember up until last year I had never seen it over $1/L for gas here. I remember filling up for 54 cents/L probably 4 years ago. Last year the price jumped over $1. I was shocked and everyone else was too. It wen back down to around 80's or so and this week jumped up past $1 again.

However, this time I don't see as much of a panic around. People will begin to accept it. Pretty soon gas will always be over $1 here. I have no doubts about that. People will kind of forget when it was less than $1 and higher prices will become normal. People will work it into their budgets and filling up your civic for $40 will replace filling it up for $20.

Until everyone stops driving in protest, the price will climb. Or at least thats the way I see it.
