Many buildings in the middle east are thousands of years old. When you combine that with a dense population in the cities, and add an earthquake, you have a pretty messy result. It's unfortunate, but it won't stop. What should they do? Demolish all the buildings and build new modern buldings? I doubt any country could afford to do that. This will continue to happen for many years to come. Remember the earthquakes in Turkey a few years ago? Thousands of people died in them. It will happen again.
