I can tell ya, after recently seeing both Megadeth and Metallica live, that the current Megadeth show blows the current Metallica show out of the water. Hands down. No comparison. Maybe in 1988, the scales (of justice?) would have been tipped in Metallica's favor, but not in 2007.

Now, I like a lot of the newer Metallica stuff. It's not like I jumped ship after "...And Justice For All". I loved St. Anger. But I gotta say, when I saw Metallica live two things struck me: 1) They rely WAY too heavily on heart-stopping pyro. It got annoying after a while; and 2) They seem a little (i.e., a lot) pretentious; it was almost like they were thinking "Man are you guys ever lucky to be seeing us play live right now".

I didn't get that from Megadeth. I know Mustaine has a HUGE ego and can be difficult, hence the reason for the revolving door at the lead guitar and drummer spots over the years. He really looked like he was enjoying himself and was thankful for the crowd response (which was huge).

I'd pay double to see Megadeth again. I'm not too sure if I would for Metallica.
