I hope so too. I was raised in family in east texas where we had confederate flags bumper stickers on our pick-ups, my parents use words like "darkies" and "niggers" all the time. I used to be terrified of black people, but i've gotten to know alot some personally. I think the problem is in education of the youth not changing the minds of those were the roots of rasicm is burried too deep. I think by the end of our generation or our children's it wont be a major problem anymore.

O my bad. It's not used as much as other racial slurs, still should not be used. Ive got hispanic friends who get real pissed if you even talk Spainish to them, and some that make jokes like "Whoa, dont deport me now", i dont know, i like hispanics for some reason. Just shows how fucked up I am.

The word itself is harmless, it's the connotation that is ugly. Just like any racial remark.

Reminds me of a female black stand-up comic I saw on Comedy Central. She thought the solution was to create a snack food called "niggers" so it would become a positive thing. They would be so good she said that if you went to a party the people would be like "WHAT?! YOU DONT HAVE NIGGERS?! YOU CANT HAVE A PARTY WITHOUT NIGGER?! CRACKERS?! me too but that one wasn't that bad, she even went into different flavors like nacho niggers and cheese niggers but there wouldn't be any barbecue niggers cause that wouldn't sound right
