OK, so you renamed your .zip to .pk3.
But, if you have the option 'hide extensions for known filetypes' (somewhere in the folder options) checked, then the filename becomes blablabla.pk3.zip (not quite sure, but I think this is correct). Ergo, still a .zip, not being recognized by MoHAA. Maybe this is your problem? Uncheck the box (in Windows XP: Open an explorer windows (e.g. 'My Computer'), go to Tools->Folder options..., see the tab 'View')
Compression doesn't matter. As long as it is a .zip with a .pk3 extension, everything should be fine.
