Anyone actually been there yet? What are your thoughts? I think its very appropriate for those it is intended to pay tribute towards, and it fits within the mall rather nicely. Best part for me was seeing two vets meet for the first time, it was like they knew each other their entire lives. By the time I finished walking the memorial, they were still there talking. being a broke-ass college boy in Kansas I don't think I'll be up there in a while; but I'll try as soon as its reasonable.
Anyone else find it rather sad that it took 60 years for a national WWII memorial? When I found out we didn't have one for all those years I was pretty pissed.

Yeah, it was kinda sad not to have a main memorial but, that war was so vast that they had memorials all over the globe. Anywhere from Pearl Harbor to Normandy. Perhaps that is why it took so long for this memorial.
