Default Richard Jeni shot himself in the face - 03-11-2007, 11:35 PM

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/03/11/comedi ... index.html

[quote:66dd9]Richard Jeni, a standup comedian who played to sold-out crowds, was a regular on the "Tonight Show" and appeared in movies, died of a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide, police said Sunday.

Police found the 45-year-old comedian alive but gravely injured in a West Hollywood home when they responded to a call Saturday morning from Jeni's girlfriend, Los Angeles Police Officer Norma Eisenman said.

Eisenman said the caller told police: "My boyfriend shot himself in the face.[/quote:66dd9]

I'd seen Jeni a few times on tv - Seems like a real professional comic -

What a way to go out, reminds me of Charles Rocket....

As something of a stand-up junkie I was very familiar with Richard Jeni.

Shame, he was an exceptionally talented comedian.

You expected to read about the guy being majorly in debt, and in and out of rehab. . .nope - none of that. . .by all indications he had a very succesful Hollyweird career - up to his death. . .Im sure theres more there though. . .

Guy was funny too - thats the worst part. He actually had talent.

Very sad indeed. I used to love watching his acts on Just for Laughs.

How much you wanna bet it was Norma Eisenman who shot him in the face?

Her or Charlton Heston. Or Dick Cheney.

Well the news article did make it a point to say it wasn't confirmed a suicide.

Perhaps it's Phil Hartman all over again.

I don't get people who don't "condone" suicide. People that are ACTUALLY suicidal don't generally have much going for them. So what he had money, if you had money for as long as he had it, you'd be over it too.

Sometimes people think a little deeper than others and find in the depth of their mind that life feels purposeless, and empty. This is called depression. It isnt a matter of "Look at what you have to live for." Its deeper inside your head than that and once you get that low you feel as though nothing in the world will cure you.

I feel sorry for people who think suicide is the answer, but I would never judge someone for it.
