[quote:96b31]Here at the University of Arizona the Center for African American Studies made a small museum lined with accomplishments from Blacks in science, academics, military history, social reform, literature, etc. I have lost count of how many times I heard:

"I didn't know that a black man helped invent that. . ."

"Blacks fought in the American Revolution. . .?"

"Some of the most decorated units in our military history were black units. . .?

"I love that guys music, i didn't know he was black. . ."

This is interesting logic, by considering we are all homo-sapiens and have the same physiological and mental capacities(generally speaking), then anyone of any race should be able to acomplish feats like these, given they put work into something. But by infering it took something special to do these things seems to me like they are making black people sound inferior inadvertently...

I knew this thread was going to come to this. hake:

Even if you are called "crackers" or "niggers" "sheenies" "spics" "chinks" "kikes", are you going to demean yourself to the level of a bigot by responding with a racial slur? That makes no sense. Whatever race you may be, prove yourself the better person and don't condescend to that level.

no, more likely their trying to educate people that think that blacks are just uneducated people that can't speak correctly or do anything useful

In the 1700's blacks in the colonies were declared 1/4 of a person.

Many people in the 1800's justified slavery by saying that it was better for blacks to be owned by whites, because they could be taken care of. they were incapable of living on their own and did not possess the mental faculties to learn to read or write.

In World War II black soldiers were initially not allowed rifles because it was feared they would injure themselves die to the "complex mechanism" of the weapon.

Blacks were not allowed to become paratroopers because it was the consensus among the Army High Command that "Negros do not have the necessary dexterity to operate a parachute". That was from an official Army report.

I understand what you're saying Blitz. You would think so in terms of us all being human, but it took 400+ years for blacks to be recognized as people in the U.S. This memorial gets their accomplishments known. I think it highlights that they are just as equal.

Oh god we had a guest speaker today at school, he talked about black people who had "famous accomplishments" but wern't reconized as much.
He talked about this one black doctor guy who was "the second african-american to graduate from Harvard".

Whop-de-fucking-do
What about the other 300 or some white guys? Just cause the guy was black it's more important? Racism goes both ways, Blacks shouldnt bitch and moan about "being viewed differently" when they went and got their own month, affirmative action, NAACP, Jesse Jackson and all that shit.

Bunch of fucking racist bigots...I thought your nation had moved somewhere since the 1960s...Guess fucking not. It's disgusting the way that at the drop of a hat, you can all begin to call people 'coons' and 'ni**ers.'

I find it interesting to see that you all have these feelings built up inside. I bet you'll all deny being racist..."I'm not a racist! I just don't like some of them." Hah!

It makes me fucking sick to my stomach to know that haters like yourselves co-exist on the same planet as me...

Yes, im racist. I judge people based on their skin and my actions refect that. I try not to let it happen but sometimes it just does. Like if im walking down the street and someone else is down the other way, i might move a little further to the side if that person was black. I now its little, but it's the little things that matter.

Yes ive got feeling bulit up inside, I've seen so much racial shit my whole life that I can't talk out about, its just frustarating that's all.

I would just like to point out something.

The people who speak in racist terms in this thread are likely angry, 15-17 year olds with no lives and who love Eminem with a gay passion.

Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

The fact is, the average white American HAS moved on from racism, and is tolerant of all peoples. I know I am, I know my parents are, and so are all of my friends and family.

And Pyro, just shut the fuck up with your anti-Americanisms for Christ's sake. You are a fucking child and apparently always will be, which is why you are permanently banned from the MoVV.com forums, and why you should be banned from the AA.com forums, God willing.

Sorry to hear that Green, because that is a terrible burden to carry through life. I hope you get those issues worked out.

how are you sure that its because of affirmitive action, maybe its just because you had a quality they didn't like. did they say your not getting in because of that or were you just looking for a crutch?
