Default Serious Problem... MOHAA won't recognize my PK3... bsp OK - 10-23-2002, 04:32 PM

HELP!

I've finally decided to finish my map started in ...April. All compiled, everything is ready to go. Earlier today I had it working, sort of. I had the pk3 made, went into load game/team match/ and saw the map name, clicked it and got a loading screen...with a black box, not my .tga file (never got that to work)... I tried to fix a couple things and now MOHAA will not even acknowledge that my pk3 exists! It will open the .bsp just fine if I put it in the maps/dm folder though. NO scripts work, no load screen, nothing. The scripts that worked previously now suddently won't at all. That includes exploders and minefield.

Any help would be championed and well rewarded.... I'm ready to take it out on the dog!

Thanks

Well, after you have kick the crap out of the dog, Check to make sure you have ALL the files in the correct directories within your .pk3 file! IF all is well, you may need to get a new pet!

Hi,

I am (re-)working on a map too which I started making 6 months ago (so its about time to finisch it :S) but anyway: I tried to make a .pk3 file of my map back then, but it didnt work...so:

the files above

("maps/dm/yourmap.bsp
maps/dm/yourmap.min
maps/dm/yourmap.scr
maps/dm/yourmap_precache.scr
scripts/yourmap.shader
textures/mohmenu/dmloading/yourmap.tga
ui/yourmap.urc")

MUST be at least used in Pakscape to make your map a .pk3 file??

Tnx!,

i'm using winzip. pk3 is basically zip. i'm sure you can do it all in other programs easier but here's a quick way that works for me...
clone a small pk3, rename it to your liking, open it with winzip, delete all the files inside, have a directory for the map setup with all the sub dirs in order... then in windoze explorer highlight all the folders you wanna toss in and drag & drop them in the empty pk3. boing! done.

grab 1 of mine and see how i did it if you're still confused. i'm no expert, but seems to work ok. http://www.viziongrafx.com/vg

Thanks for all the help there guys. I actually have all of the files in the right directories. But, being at work now, I can't recheck the pk3. What I think I "might" have done wrong was not set the precache name as "mymap_precache.scr"... I think that I just included a "dmprecache.scr". I think, need to get home and check that out. I really appreciate the input though! Any of you want to test it out? Send your email to me at marconia@paonline.com.

Thanks again!
