Default Once more: Making (friendly) AI run around in multiplayer? - 10-20-2002, 02:42 PM

Are there people out there that have already managed to create AI in a multiplayer map that can walk around? I have seen my AI react on other AI, crouching around, circling eachother, but all my attempts to make a AI walk or run to a pathnode have miserably failed...

If anyone of the scripting gods that populate this forum could help me on this? Anyone ever even tried this? Or is is simply impossible to have an AI running around?

Thanks.

I'm fairly sure that there are AI soldiers in the map by Small Sumo, Wombat and Scorpio called Blitzshnee (or something like that) that walk around, and it's a multiplayer OBJ map. I might be wrong, though... Check it out.

Allright this is weird. I allready have AI that react to eachother, shoot echother, that kind of stuff. but they STILL WONT RUN...

Youre right. There are soldiers patrolling on that map! All I need now is contact this Wombat dude who apparently did the AI for that map... ANYONE know this dudes e-mail? Wombat are you readin this? Or could Scorpiomidget maybe tell me how to reach Wombat?

As far as I understand it, you need to add pathnodes with flags all over the freakin' place so that the AI know where they "can" run and what to "do" when they get there, add cover flags to all of them.

My POW is running like i wanted him to! I'm still working on the map he will be running through (AND i've lots of studying to do...) but some time in two months i hope to finish it... dont pin me down on this

In experimenting with AI's i've found some nice things I'm going to try to use in upcoming maps: imagine two teams of allies and axis dropped off in a "neutral" country, say spain, where both teams have to shoot their way through an AI guarded base, wiht a final shootout in the middle of the complex (steal documents perhaps?) It'd be nice fighting against AI with the bend over to left/right function, now wouldn't it?

You need wombats new_generic_human.tik. Then read the global friendly.scr and the ai.scr. They have detailed instructions on how to do it.
