I'm glad everyone has different opinions, otherwise this world would be rather bland if everyone believed in christianity

Once again, I believe that he existed, but I don't believe in christian mythology and fable. You know, I've once read a story that he got married after he was crucified. People back then were impressed by things, that would not even seem to impress us one bit these days. Imagine if you put a modern day gymnist or an acrobat into that time period. The acrobat would have probably been considered a god too, like hercules, who also existed. oOo:

So far Spooge is the only atheist that is speaking some sense, also some of you agnostics are too. For all of you that don't believe i recommend doing a little research. Don't listen from word of mouth read a book. A good book to read is "Origin of Species" by George Darwin. He proved many things wrong in creationism...yet many things baffled him, stuff that no un-human/natural thing could create. Also if you research Roman history, there always was a census of the roman territories, in Jurselam(sp) there was 2 parents named Mary and Joseph whom had a child name Jesus (if i'm right Jesus wasn't a popular name back then ).
You don't have to listen to me but do what you want its your eternity ...

Vance i dont know you hoped to achive with this thread. we are giving our reasons why we dont beleive in god or christianity, and you try to make it look as though we are wrong for thinking the way we do.
In short - i dont beleive in god because i think its a load of bullshit. im saying bullshit as you didnt seem to grasp what i meant by "not plausible".

I go to hell for not believing in God, and God is Jesus, at least in catholicism; the faith in which I seem to be most educated in. I'm assuming it is the same in all of Christianity, unless you use different Bibles.

Even if the Bible was intended to do good, and even if Jesus performed his miracles; note, I'm not saying that I actually believe that; The christian priests have completely taken advantage of all of that to make money and to fill their greed. They used the faith to have control over Europe, and to brainwash people against rebelion against bad living conditions of the middle ages; not to mention the inquisitions and the stupid witch hunts. Christianity has transformed from something good, to something completely rotten. All religions are to keep control over large populations, isn't that ovbious? If one was atheist, what would have been his penalty for killing, stealing, ect? Nothing! So, one created a hell, to frighten everyone into obedience.

I don't believe in Religion...I think it is the reason we fight the reason we die for no apparent reason but to prove to the world that they are right when you can't prove shit.
Believe in god, that is cool...but fuck your religion.

Now to answer on why I am atheist, and not on why I don't believe in Christianity; I believe that all the living things on the earth are equals. A bug is equal to a human, a cell is equal to a bird. Human, bug and bird are all just vessels of cells. To me the all time symbol of life is a cell. Cells have evolved into organisms to reproduce and survive more efficienty. I believe that this is the purpose of all the organisms. What is the point of that? Well there isn't. Why do animals evolve? Because the cells want to survive. Where does the soul fit into this? Well, it doesn't. If there was a God, I believe that he created the universe at most, but right now he/she/it is long time gone. Any questions? cool:
