Yeah, like Montezuma II thought Cortez was the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl. The aztecs believed that Quetzalcoatl sailed off into the sea and will one day return. Well, Cortez used his new found empowerment to take advantage of the totally clueless Aztecs and took Montezuma as his prisoner and occupied the palace, the Aztecs rebelled, more Spaniards came, bloody battle ensued, Montezuma died, and the Aztec civilization crumbled. Religion is evil. Faith is evil.
