German/Japanese Super Weapon

I heard about this on the history channel, on Sworn to Secrecy. Near the end of the war, Japan and Germany knew they were being beat, so they tried developing a weapon of mass destruction, under heavy secrecy. Two Japanese scientists were put on a U-Boat, that was carrying some very powerful materials in order to create this weapon. But, on their way to Europe from Japan, Hitler killed himself and Germany was defeated. The U-Boat didn't know, so it landed on a former German sub nest and was captured. When Allies went through the sub, they found it filled with the materials, and, two dead scientists, but remember, they didn't know the war was over. So, the mystery was, what was the super weapon, and what could it have done? Anyone got any more info on this incident?

Woah who knows what could have happened if that had succeded, I've never heard anything about this.

They were probably working on a nuke.

My question to you : how were they killed ?

Probably killed them selves to avoid capture.

Wouldn't they have a radio abourd on that U-boad? To communicate. And why would you send only two scientists if you want a superweapon before the end of the war?
It just doesn't make sense

Exactly, it doesn't make sense. Two Japanese scientists to overlook whats going on. And plus, they didn't know it was near the end of the war. They were going to try and get back the upper hand I assume. Also, Im guessing they were murdered because Germany was gonna backstab Japan. Plus, it was a very secret operation, so I assume they were on radio silence or jsut didn't have one. Being intercepted was probably the last thing they wanted to have happen. And oh yea, they were shot in the back of the head, and they weren't nuclear materials. They found out they were for a super weapon from one of the people in the sub crew I think, obviously most of the people in the sub didn't know much about it.

as far as i know the japs and the germans never fought alongside each other. Sure they were on the same side but they had totally diferent ideas and beliefs, the japs thought they were the pure race but so did the germans. If germany had succeded in taking over, Japan would have surly started fighting germany or vice versa. And as for a nuke the us had it russia was making one germany wasnt to far off either.

wow this really is interesting... But aren't there stories that the Nazis had already developed a nuclear weapon but the scientist kept it secret because of what Hitler would do with it?

yea imagine what hitler would have done if he had nuclear capability? i dont think we would be here now. The entire earth would be a radioactive heap of useless dirt.
