when i get to this step

it tells me to right click on top view...but the menu doesnt pop up! omg can sum1 help a noob mapper

It seems that you have not loaded the entdefs.pk3 into your main.
Make sure you do that, and try again. It will work.

Make sure you clicking in one of the 2d boxes and not the 3d box.

Also in EDIT PREFERENCES make sure you have it set for 2 or 3 button mouse whichever you have.

This sometimes happens to me, just make sure EVERYTHING is deselected and right click in the "top 2D view" and it should show, click on "info" then "player" then "start". Make sure you've followed all the steps previous to this.
