On a 56 k, you can count on around 8-12 hours. My reccommendation is that you
A: Get a dl manager like Gozilla or Realdownload.
B: Start the download on a friday night, and do it friday and saturday night, then, when it is all dled, start it up and play it all sunday.

You need a program like "Get-right", or "Flashget". If you have the program (and the server allows it), just exit the program, and when you start it back up, start the download. If the server allows you to resume, then it will start where you left off.

Okay this is what I do. I have 56k and I do downloads at night. I have Download accelerator. Get it at download.com. You can pause downloads and resume them without a problem. One thing that is really handy is the scheduler. Let's say you wanna start a download at midnight but you went to bed. As long as you kept the computer on the download accelerator will dial up for you and download whatever you want. Plus if it disconnects it will automatically reconnect and you can stop it at a certain time if you want to. It doesn't acclerate downloads but I think it might for broadband or something. Anyways it's worth it and it's free of course. I'm still working on trying to find a bearshare or napster or music service where you can easily resume songs. Any help anybody?

Bearshare is just another napster but I believe this one would be way more harder to shut down. It's part of the gnutella network, you may have heard of that.

Winmx is the new napster, and for 56k users don't you get PC magazines or anything? thats where i get all my demos from.

Just get Getright 4.5 from Getright.com and you'll have no worries. Start your download in the evening before you go to bed, when you wake up you should have your (if its around this size) 100Mb demo
