Default Best Video Card for the dollar? - 12-03-2002, 07:52 PM

Sorry if this topic has been done before. I want to buy a new video card. I dont know what to choose from. Right now I have an Elsa GeFoce2 32mb card. It runs pretty good with MoH, i get about 40-90 FPS (depending on map). Money isnt much of an issue, but I would rather not blow 300+ dollars on a freakin card. Any tips and suggestions on the best cards out there?

I often find myself recommending the GeForce 3 Ti 500 on the GameFAQs message boards. No reason to do any different here.

MX cards are no good.

Go for a GF3 Ti 500 or higher and you'll be fine.

I have a GF4 MX440 in my old Athlon 550 with 224 mb RAM. Works fine (but not great) with MOHAA and GTA3. A better card probably wouldn't even make much of a difference in that computer anyway.

A friend told me a Radeon 9700 Pro is pretty good. Anyone have one of these? They good? Rough price on it?

What sindo said. I just bought a ti4200 64mb and promptly overclocked it for 250/512 to 275/585. Delivered to you door in three days for $120 from newegg. Or for a few dollars less you could buy the inferior gf3ti500.

The best bang for the buck is the Radeon 9000 Pro It's 99$ and 275 core and 450mhz - 550mhz memory (not sure)

That or the Geforce 4200's 128mb.. are around 150$ +

i got the GF3 TI500 and i must say its the greatest card ever, It blows the GF4 MX's out of the water by so much, i'd compare it with the 4200 its just that good.
