Default Interesting rifle... - 12-04-2002, 05:17 AM

I know that when you have a custom skin on a rifle, it looks jacked, so hear me out. The guy below had a rifle that fired rapid fire like a Garand, and had the sound of a Mosin Nagant; also the damage of a Mosin Nagant.

I also noticed that he didnt have to empty his clip (8 rnds) in order to reload. oOo:

It depends on the mod, and what the admins set up. One server I play has all rifles equivalent to the M1 in rate of fire and damage, but they retain their indivual sounds and all can be reloaded at any time. It makes the rifle a formidable weapon in the hands of skilled rifleman It is my favorite realism mod. I can play axis or allied and use the good rifles.

I followed FK's example of equal weapons for my mod.
The only big differnece with mine is I couldn't get some of the rifle fire sounds to work right with rapid fire. So 2 of the rilfes I ended up using the KAR98 sounds for.

Balanced weapons = retarded

The rifles work just fine for me without being newbified. May as well make it a SMG only server.

Your mod is second only to FK's IMO, but he is constantly tweaking his. He has the rifles perfect. The russian and british rifles do have issues with their sound files.

You think that is a realism mod? That might be a balancing mod to make everything equal, but it is far from a realism mod.

*yawn*

Realism as a mod, not realistic as a concept. You are splitting hairs with the wrong guy on this one. I could care less how realistic the game is, I prefer good game play, realistic is only a minor consideration.

Nacho_Man...

I don't think Pest or anyone else considers this a die-hard realism mod.
The only reason the word realism is used is because the weapon have more realistic damage compared to stock settings.
I run the same type of equal weapons on my server. For every 50 people who like it one person will constantly complain how it's not a true realism mod.
Most of the people who complain fall into one of two groups.
1) The person who always plays with the STG44 and hates how the bar is now just as good. This kind of people i just laugh at.
2) The person who comes in and picks the Mauser. Who doesn't like the fact it can fire just as fast as an M1. This kind of person I have absolute respect for. Their weapon of choice has been improved and they don't like it because they enjoyed the challenge of using the single shot Kar98.

If anyone is curious about the weapon settings, you can check them out here.

In my little ol' opinion. The truest realism mod would be a cross between CKR's weapon damage and the amount of recoil from the Aries mod.
The recoil in the aries mod is set a little to high but in every other mod I think it's set to low.
You would never realize the kick a MG or SMG has until you fire one.

Well, I wasnt saying that I wouldnt like the mod. I actually do like mods like that, I think they add an interesting twist to gameplay. Im not an STG whore, so its not like I am complaining. I was just saying that your use of the word realism was not right, it is just merely a mod. I guess we were just talking about 2 different things. I was talking about realism as a concept, you were just talking about making everything equal. Sorry about the misunderstanding.
