If you installed the patch and are visiting the same server you were getting trhe 50 ping on, then it isn't SH, it is your connection. It probably coincided with you installing the patch, but it's not the patch. Now, if you are connecting to a server that is trying to run more then 18 people then the server is probably lagging to the the immense amount of resources SH takes up.

I just posted info on a good way to test your network connection.
You might want to try and see if it helps pinpoint the problem

I did a tracert and got a 58 which is normal...what I don't understand is if I uninstall Spearhead to get rid of the patch and reinstall Spearhead only without patch my ping is great...as soon as I install the patch ping goes haywire...

First off, what version(US, UK)? Where did you get the patch from? My clan name is {BHC}Pvt. Lucky Strikes, one of the guys in the clan were saying something along the same lines. He had the USversion and had downloaded the UK Patch, I have yet to download the patch because of this. I have been busy w/ school(Tests!), but I dont think EA has released the patch for the US version yet. Some people say they are the same and that it dont matter, Iontno. Anyways, if you have the US version of the game, wait for EA to release the exclusive US patch.
I dont know if this will help, I'll look around some more and see what I can see.

Blastman77...
The Officail US patch was released a day or two after the UK patch.
You can get it from the EA games website.
