im with gary on that one. stop by any top clan sniper only server and ull see. theres always the snipers that are running around, on their feet non stop, and their ones with the top ratio, cause their always the better "sniper". why dont we get a match. campers vs. new agers and we will see

Camping on a Stock map ecspecially is dumb. I've been playing this forsaken game for a year and i know every nook and cranny of the maps. As soon as a i turn a corner or enter a room i look for key spots.

If you're going to run around shooting people up close then the sniper rifle is wasted. You are supposes to use a weapon's advantages in combat. The sniper rifle is not meant for close quarters combat. A sniper is not a close quarters soldier. Read about sniping, what is taught to a sniper. I think there are too many Quake/CS refugees who do not appreciate the ART of sniping. Don't bother with a reply that MOHAA is based on the Quake engine because I know that and I have never played Quake or Counter-Strike, but hey, it's just a game. Have fun! biggrin:

I'm trying to say that it IS a game....and why bring all this crap about artforms (don't want to sound like i'm jaring my words at you). If it was real life, then yes, i would take into account about stealth. But talking about an artform in a game...there is no such thing.

Maybe on the servers that you play on. Go to sniper only servers and you will appreciate the sniper rifle used the way it should be.

dude, i play on sniper only servers alot. That's the way i get better. I just don't know why you guys can't accept that the new age sniper is another way of using the sniper rifle. Accept that fact and that will close this flame war.

Tbry, you have the idea of what i'm coming from. i just think that waiting(inn a game that has a timelimit) has no effective function.

appreciate the art of sniping? i dont think u understand closed quarters combat with a sniper rifle agianst another, or even against an smg. sometimes theres so much involved that u have to process in ur mind, happening in all of 5 seconds. lets say ur playing stalin, snipers only server. ur running up the stairs in the main house, and u get to the top floor. u look at the hole above to get a nice shot in the back kill. nothing. u lean to look to the room on ur right. some people would choose the right why? who knows. i chose it because i had a reason. on the left, theres probably gonna be one or more snipers in there. their not watching their backs their watching the plank ahead, cause all n00b snipers keep going there and taking their chances. plus, the room on the right has the plank. chances are some guy was on the roof, and now hes coming into the house cause hes been found. also, if there is a guy in the right, its gonna add a ton of more confusion when u engang a battle with the guys in the left room. so u look.. nothing. u lean back in, just incase anyone saw u from the left room and lined up for a shot. turn around, and now u go to the room where ur sure people are gonna be. sure enough theres a man standing right at the plank, shooting ur teamates as they come. theres another sniper leaning off of the concrete balconey. u shoot the guy on the balconey first, and run to the corner. then u reload my single shot u took, and get ready to fight the guy wthat was covering the plank, because from watching him shoot and seeing the name ontop of the screen reading *[WaffenSS] Cethin* u know ur gonna have a hard time. sure enough u start dancing, trying to see in to check if he knows ur coming. sure enough hes in the corner waiting for u. he shoots and misses, u run in tryign to get him on reload. he dodges and u miss because of a mixture of excitement, and poor timing. now ur both in the same room, hes got his shot now, and ur relodaing. u do a mixture of leaning side to side, and sitting. keep running into him, because it adds more to his confusion. never jump because thats always an easy kill. so u keep dodging, watching his movements and his gun. he shoots, and hits ur leg. now ur at 4 health, and better make this shot or ur screwed. so cethin is dodging like a mad man. or *dancing* if u well. now, after watching him for just 2 seconds u know he likes to jump. waht do u do? u keep moving , and wait until he jumps sure enough he does. now u dont just jump to the chance of shooting, u set ur crosshair to where hes gonna land. u wait, and as soon as he hits the wood flloor, bam... u put a shot in his upper torso. u congratulate cethin on providing such a wonderful fight. that jedi campsman is art. theres no excitement in hiding, theres no |337 skill in becoming just another pathetic sniper wannabe.

I'd like to get a match for just the people that play in the aan server or where other "regulars" hang out. Then we'll see what happens when everyone sets up camp and no one moves.....end score---0 all since no one wanted to move.

I think what i've been saying is misunderstood. I'm saying this:

A target of opportunity, is a target of opportunity. If the guy is right in front of you, by all means, FIRE! What I'm saying is, taking a sniper rifle and then running around looking for an opponent to hit up close does not make any sense. . .to me. Play the game the way you like. Just like i will never flame anyone for using a rocket or a shotgun, I will not criticize anyone for the way they use a rifle. However, do not say to me that you are a "new breed" of sniper because you choose to "snipe" from 4 feet away. If this game is based on warfare then a sniper does what he does and the modern sniper training stresses stealth and concealment, the way it has always been.

I'll say this. It's not that I can't accept the fact that other players think of themselves as a different kind of sniper because they prefer to be up close and personal. Whatever helps you enjoy playing AA/Spearhead, as long as you don't cheat, I don't care. But for you to say that that is the way sniping should be because you enjoy playing a sniper that way is. . .incorrect, because in terms of military allocation that is not how a sniper is used. Now, let's play! biggrin:
