[quote="ST_Bazooka_Joe":ed9f2]So which card do you recommend then Jerk? I'm looking at either that external USB ATI, or a card by Hauppage. What do you think?[/quote:ed9f2]

Well Joe, I havent followed the technology of capture cards. I bought one 6 years ago and as you can see it serves me well, being the dinosaur that it is.(PCI)
My opinion is uneducated.

I can say this about ATI however.... When I bought the original ATI "All In Wonder" card for disgusting $274 CDN before tax, it came with a manufacturers rebate to the tune of $80 or so... I forget.
The rebate said to wait 6-8 weeks. After 3 forever's and 3 emails (unrepsonded) I decided to phone them. It took 8 months to get something from ATI I was told to wait 6-8 weeks for. The composite video in-out on my card got fried hooking up a VCR with the my bawx turned on. My friend who has the identical card (only paid $6 in a church basement sale 5 years later...GRRR) also has the same in-outputs fried. Bear that in mind.

Definately go with one that supports MPEG-4 though.... that's basically what the VOB files are on a DvD movie.
