Default Dedicated Server Problem - 12-31-2002, 01:36 PM

I am running a dedicated server. I don't have any firewalls or anything like that. When I try to lanuch my server from the shortcut with a server.cfg file everything looks fine, but no one can join....get a time out error. Now if I run the server dedicated from the within the game itself, it runs fine, no problems. I would like to use the shortcut method with a config file.....anyone got a clue????

Thanks

is this for spearhead or MOH?

If you like post your cfg file along with what's in your shortcut. Just remember not to leave your rcon password visible.

You can also try http://www.mohadmin.com for more help with server setup

Sorry, think I got my dedicated values backwards. Used to know this stuff off the top of my head. Damned old age.

DOH! change mohaa.exe in your shortcut to mohaa_server.exe, that's the dedicated server executable.

are your clients running v1.0?

I would update the game to the latest if I was you, unless there is a reason your running v1

Also I would change your shortcut to

[code:bfb18]"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\MOHAA\MOHAA.exe" +set dedicated 1 +set ui_console 1 +exec server.cfg [/code:bfb18]

All the other stuff is in your cfg file. you also had 20 in your shortcut and only 16 in your cfg.

It's been a while since I used v1.0 so there could be something else where missing.

I fixed all that, but it still won't work....I don't want to update because my clan uses 1.0. Is there a way to put in the rcon password once I have lanuch the game???? that would help me a little.

Upgrade to V1.11, man. This will fix the majority of your issues, then you will have a properly running server.
