Default DSL server help - 01-01-2003, 04:28 PM

Hi,

I run a part-time non-dedicated server for MOHAA on my DSL.

I need some help with some questions.

First of all, how many people can i expect to host on it?

Are there any tweaks i can get to make everyones ping better.

Right now it gets laggy after 4 people. Any help would be appreciated.

If it's laggy after 4 people, you probably have a bad upload speed. Goto http://www.dslreports.com and test your speed. With that upload number, you can determine what your maxrate is, which could make your server stable for about 6 people.

Goto dslreports, get your approximate upload speed from their tests there, and post it here, then i'll tell you how to set your maxrate.

3-4 clients max. with your upload speed. MOH loves to eat bandwidth for a snack.

Also try tweaking your max rate. You can find a guide on http://www.mohadmin.com under guides.

this will help but not much.

Good Luck with your server.

LOL

I did the equation for you:

[code:8944e]Upload speed / (Max. Players X 8) = maxrate.[/code:8944e]

I used a max of 6, but I suggest you reduce it to 4-5.

[code:8944e]134 / (6 X 8) = 2.790....[/code:8944e] So round it to 2800

In the game, open your console, and type:

[code:8944e]set maxrate 2800[/code:8944e]

I don't think MOH sets one by default.
